how do people live with out air conditions

my ac unit died today and it is hotter then heck in my house right now i got 3 fans going waiting on the guy to get here sure hope it can be fixed tonight

I do every day....true it may get a bit hot at times, but most of the time it's ok.....I have fans all over the house, one in every bedroom window, at night it gets cold and I have to cover up with a blanket.....If it gets to cold my head will hurt...and not to mention the high utility bill.....hopefully he will be there soon....

They use fans or go to a place with ac like stores, malls, library, etc., during the day and use fans at night.

I live in Florida and we only run our ac unit for 4 months a year. We use fans and the natural air flow that our house was built with. We open a door and a window in the back and set up a fan in the window, the fan pulls the air through the house and cools it down.

I don't know but I live in Ga and it is hot as heck. I hate the summer time.

I rarely have the air conditioner on in my house. I get cold easily so I usually just use the fan. When other people have the air blasting I have on a jacket or blanket on

I have lived in my condo for over 22 years for the 1st 20 years I never used the ac. one I love the hot weather and 2 I have good ventilation in my place. It has only been the last few summers that i have even turned it on . I only average about 2-3 nights a summer.When I do use it it is ususally over 90 and humid so it is more then worth it

I think people that live without "air conditioners" get hot under the collar easier  or they must be really cold blooded.  I live on the third floor of an apartment that has a black tar roof out my backdoor so needless to say with all the heat rising and the heat coming off the roof it gets very hot and uncomfortable in my little apartment really fast so I probably use my AC from April to October.  Lots of times I don't have to run it long to cool down but it soon heats up again.  I do know that running an AC is cheaper than running an electric baseboard heater in the winter.

I'm so sorry to hear about your ac dying but have faith I'm sure the repairman will be able to fix whatever is wrong.  I have had that experience myself and it was not very pleasant - especially since I live in the Southwest and it gets to temps over 110 here.

My grandparents have no ac just fans and hurricane shutters and live in the Caribbean... It is not that bad... I drive a vehicle without ac too I got used to it

before ac in my apt, i ran to car and use car ac or head to beach to be near ocean and return at night

My children love the Ac and have me freezing at night.  It is easier for me to feel cool but not cold.

I have two in my house, but they're too expensive to run so I'm usually without them. I think my electric bill last month was $175.

I hope he comes soon for you!!  I don't know how people do it on a regular basis!  I'm a wimp when it comes to this!  The a/c in my car went out end of last summer and I totally prayed and prayed and gave it to God!  My father in law gave me his car at the beginning of this summer!!  Praise God!!
