the answer machine
« on: September 08, 2015, 06:32:05 am »
used to be a separate machine.
now they are built in to the phone.
the phone company has their own as well.
I had three different ones on my phone.
When I set up my own in the phone, it worked until a big storm came.
The phone company repaired my phone and unbeknownst to me, and probably without realizing it themselves, mine wouldn't work anymore. People would call me and tell me something wasn't right and I didn't know how to solve it. ....until yesterday. I talked to the receptionist and she told me that if I set my number of rings to "4", I could use the Panasonic answering service built into my phone. I still have my voice recording with the message I want.

Not sure what the benefit of having this would be.   Since we have voicemail what would be the advantage?   Maybe I'm not understanding what it is.   Care to elaborate?

i just have one cell phone, no land line, so only have one voicemail. I hate checking voicemail. I would much rather have people text me!

I just have the one voicemail and the message is automated. I remember having a separate answering machine. My dad would make me do the outgoing message because he thought it was cute. I, on the other hand, hated it.

I don't have voicemail, nor do I have an answering machine, I got tired of all the calls coming in. I do not even have a landline. so if someone wants to talk to me they just have to call back or I will call them if I miss their call. I do not caller ID. I do ry to answer those that I have names in the phone book.

I have a phone  that I can use with a land line and it has a built in answering machine.  It's just taking up space in the closet because the only phone I use is my cell.

Have a great day!

computers pretty much made a lot of gadgets like the answer machine obsolete.
