Alzheimer's + dementia
« on: January 26, 2016, 07:48:02 am »
when you get news that your family member has become mentally ill and combative, it's natural to go back to the memories of the past.
the person is no longer able to convey his or her true personality anymore.
it's a hard situation to deal with.

I think it's also hard when someone you have known all your life doesn't recognize you anymore.

It is a sad sad feeling both my wife's grandpa and grandma had the illness. I wish there is a cure for it. Both of them died a year apart from each other. They don't even remember anything. Lost a lot of weight and they don't look the same. Very hard situation.

This disease is very hard on the family as much. My family experienced this and it is not nice, heartbreaking when your loved one can't remember a part of your life. You go back all the to the womb site. very odd disease. Good luck we need a cure for this too.

I hate that disease!  I watched my mom go from a happy, fun loving independent woman to almost a child who I took care of.  As it progressed she no longer knew who I was, or who anyone was, became non verbal, had to be fed, taken to the bathroom-which in time led to diapers, had to be bathed, and stopped walking.  Please find a cure so other families don't have to experience this heartbreak.

My grandmother succumbed to this disease. It was so hard to watch her struggle through it. Before she got Alzheimer's, she always valued her mind. She endeavored to "learn something new each day" and loved to work on the crosswords and other puzzles. So it was so terrible when she started to lose what she valued so much.  :(
