Jazz singer Al Jerrau has died.  He was seventy six years old.  May he rest in peace.

I hadn't heard... shame. I've never been a big fan, but still, it's sad.  :'(

As I get older, it's sad to see more and more public figures and artists that were part of my life passing on.  Evidently, Al had just retired shortly before he died.  It must be wonderful to work at what you love for that many years.  He was one of the great jazz singers.

He was a talented guy. I remember hearing his songs on the radio from the backseat as a kid. RIP Al.

Without a doubt, one of the greats.  As a musician myself, I would often times practice playing along with recordings by ear if possible.  As a big fan of jazz myself and having a little of a jazzy style to my play, I still found it a challenge to play AJ's music by ear.  Finally I was directed to Amazon by a fellow musician on youtube.  I was able to find a rare songbook of Al's greatest hits.  I will cherish that book forever.  AJ will be missed.  :(
