Nothing said about Florida Shooting
« on: February 28, 2018, 11:56:21 pm »
From what I can see no one has discussed this serious incident but have no problem talking about personal family death on here even if not close.  I find that really strange that no one has any thoughts or opinions on everything concerned about it, kind of sad, indicates the lack of caring for others.  Hopefully people can talk about more than their favorite this or that when bad things happen, who knows maybe someone would come up with a great idea to save people.  Just saying, yeah freedom of speech. 8) :peace:

I have many questions regarding the Parkland school shooting but will never get answers as politicians have their own "agenda" regarding the event. It's sad that we are unable to keep our children safe in their own schools.

It's just very sad and I can see in the very near, distant future that our Children will have to be the ones to take matters into their own hands. No one listens to crooked adult politicians, so here comes the iGen's (Gen Z) and Gen Alpha's... they will be our leaders!

I have not discussed this situation in a forum because I was monitoring this event on the news. It's sad that so many lives were lost/injured due to one kid. What is the solution? That is a really hard question. Although the shooter had a mental illness, I do not think it was fair for people to say that guns need not be given to people with mental illnesses. Any one can use a gun. A family member can have guns in a gun case and someone living in the house can take the gun and use it? The President mentioned teachers carrying guns. I am definitely against this because the teacher could have the gun in their pocket and it goes off. Then again the teacher could have the gun in her purse in the desk and a kid could go in her purse and take it. Then what? Teacher can not protect the child.

The gun problem is serious. In schools, stores, churches, walking down the street. It is awful, but what can we do?

They need more than just our thoughts and prayers. Someone suggested hiring veterans to be armed guards at schools. I like that idea.

It is very sad what happened in Florida and other schools around the Country too!  The H.S. in our town has one armed policeman on duty and that's sure not enough for a decent sized school.  The school board several years ago talked about putting in metal detectors at the main doors but as far as I know nothing was ever done.  I think metal detectors could go a long way toward helping.  And, more armed guards, whether they be police officers, veterans or whoever can pass background check and be vetted pretty closely.  We have to protect our children.

It was all preventable had pathetic indifference been avoided,he didn't keep  it all hidden and everyone around him just ignored the ticking timebomb, then it detonated.Wonder if anyone who heard his rants and ignored him was killed ?

Okay. Does anyone see the connection between taking God out of our schools and the violence we are experiencing now. :angel11: Just my opinion, but it seems quite a coincidence, doncha think?

After all, we seem to be cultivating young people with a belief in their rights, without the accompanying responsibilities.  :monkey:

All different religeons in school when god was supposedly there. So who is God?Also there were wars going on and plenty of violence too when cities were burning over racial injustice.Assassinations happened.Vietnam...etc.

Jesus defined what the last day would be like. And from 1914 to the present its EZ to see we are living in that time.We might be able to stop an incident from happening or maybe some laws can make it tougher to get guns......but bottom line is this world will only get worse until God decides its time to end this satanice system.

Knowing that can help us cope and the hope of God doing something about it can help as well. But when a loved one, friend or us are involved it doesnt make it less sad either. We need to pray to Jehovah in Jesus name for strength.

I wouldn't say it's necessarily that people don't care about this incident. I care very deeply about what happened. It's incredibly tragic. I imagine quite a few people have been talking about this incessantly outside of this forum. I'm glad too that so many people feel they can discuss loved ones here who they have lost. It's good to have a place to discuss tragedies of all kinds.

I agree.  I also care very much about the incident in Florida also, and I have spoken about it with friends and family as well as coworkers. Posting about that tragedy or any other on FC has no correlation with a person's lack of caring for others.  :snowman:

They should keep armed security personal in schools.

Everyone knows what the real problem is when it comes to these types of things but no one really wants to do anything about it so it is going to keep happening.  >:(

Plenty of people reported his behavior. The FBI and the Sheriff decided to ignore those warnings.

As for teachers with guns - the idea is ONLY teachers that volunteer to carry and/or only those teachers who have lots of experience with guns would be allowed to carry them in a school.  I'm not sure about that idea. There needs to be a little more "study" on other schools with gun-carrying teachers. i do think it would discourage shooters if teachers were armed.

What is there to study?Even the cops dont use guns the right way.

A little leaven ferments the whole batch
