Caught Off Guard
« on: July 21, 2018, 05:06:02 pm »
Today a simple request of my husband made be cry like a baby.

I was outside most of the day trimming trees.  He was inside doing laundry.  He has a cracked rib so is dealing with quite a bit of pain.

When I came inside for a drink of water, he asked me to go to the garage for a folding lawn chair.  He  had some laundry in his arms and was heading downstairs to the washer and dryer which are in our basement.

His request for the lawn chair caught me off guard emotionally.  My Dad, 91 years old when he died last month, always sat in a folding lawn chair in their basement when he did laundry.  It saved him going up and down the stairs.

I just broke down and sobbed when my husband asked for the lawn chair.

Hello! :D :)

It's a blessing when after many years of marriage that your life partner can still catch you off guard. The whole situation shows that your husband knows and understand you  :in-love:. It reminds you why you married him in the first place. :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:

So sorry for you loss.  It is amazing how often when you least expect it something will make you think of him.  It is good that you do have memories that you can recall that were good and happy, not just the pain at the end.

It's wonderful that you have memories.  And a dh that would do laundry.

Sorry to hear about your dad but it appears that he was a man of wisdom.

Sorry for the loss of your father. Mine died 5 years ago and there are some things that still trigger a memory which makes me cry. I was very close to him and miss him so much!
