I usually don't answer unless they can tell I am home (garage door is open). If I needed what they were selling I would have looked them up myself.

I will open after I asked what they want and if they look funny or crazy, but you never know

My daughter lives in a gated HOA community.  If you do not have an appointment...you do not get in.  The guard calls you are home to see if you are expected if not, no entry.  They will accept deliveries etc so you do not have to worry about them being stolen off your porch.  I work from home doing taxes and also IT work for some clients I also have friends who work from home and answering the door can disrupt your flow of work.  I know people who do customer service, medical billing, order taking for companies.  Lots of people work from home and are not doing surveys.

Then if someone says where do you work and you work for Nationwide doing customer service why would you not just say 'Nationwide' instead of "oh I work from home".  Yes, a lot of jobs people do work from home but when all people can do is be vague and say "I work from home" then that tells me they are not working a real job.

I know there are jobs where people work from home and they are legit jobs.  There was one I applied for a few months ago.  IF I had got it and somebody asked where I worked my reply would have been the name of the company.  NOT "I work from home".

And I do know there are people who have other means of support whether it be a spouse that works and pays the bill or a government check and they do surveys and they call that their job.

   :in-love:        I have answered the door to people I don't know, I do seem cautious though. Most people are trying to sell the tree cutting services. Good that I don't get to many strangers at my front door.    :in-love:

I received a knock on my door and asked who it was. No answer, I asked several times but no answer. I peeped out the peephole and didn't see anyone. I finally open the door and I saw an Amazon package at my door. My question is Why couldn't you stand in front of my door so I could see you? Why didn't you answer me through the door? That spooked me out because that means you were standing on the side and not in the middle. Very strange. I started to report this to Amazon but never did. :angel11:

I can tell you this,UPS and Fed X drivers have much pressure on them with a time schedule.I work in a very rich gated community and have to tell them in a nice way to slowdown <speeding>....maybe in your case you didnt answer the door fast enuff for them.

I assume the "package" could not answer you.  The delivery drivers do not have time to wait on you to finish what you are doing and come to the door.  They do not have to knock at all.

It isn't their fault you are "spooked" easily.  There is nothing strange about standing over to the side of the door.  There are no rules for where the delivery people have to stand if they do require a face to face meeting.

I did have a FedEx guy that was a driver helper and he knocked hard on the door.  That scared me because I did not know they were there but when I saw the truck it was fine.  He dropped packages, knocked, and ran.  They have a lot of packages to deliver.  I do not expect them to stand there until I come to the door.  And they are not required to.

If I was really concerned I would invest in cameras (you can purchase them at Lowe's) and put them so that I could see all of my doors.  But if they are wifi cameras they can be hacked in to.  And sometimes interference can cause you to be able to see somebody else's camera.  Kind of like with a CB type radios and sometimes the local fast food drive thru orders will run in on them.

Hi,
I don't answer calls from unknown numbers.  I don't answer when a stranger comes to the door.  I was raised not to talk to strangers.

The guy knocked, knocked, and knocked. If I ask who is it, they should answer. If he's STANDING there I have the right to ask who it is, and they should show their face. If they want to drop a package off, KNOCK and LEAVE. Nowadays people are crazy. I trust no one who will stand out of my EYESIGHT. You never know who might want to bombarge their way into your home. I have had delivery drivers KNOCK and SHOW their face and I opened the door because I could SEE them and signed for my package.

We have talked on here about how no one answers their phone if they do not know the person calling.  I don't recognize the phone number I don't answer it.

What if someone comes to your door.  Someone you do not know.  Would you even acknowledge they are out there? Would you go to the door and ask thru the door who they are or talk to them? Or ignore them?

A fast talking sales person just came to my door. I did not even go in there and answer it.  A neighbor called and told me they were on their way to my house.  They are trying to get people to take their internet.  It is a really awesome deal but you have to take it RIGHT NOW!  RIGHT NOW!

Personally, I do not like high pressure sales.  Send me something in the mail and if I can think about it and I am interested I will call you.

Hello!

I live in the basement so a lot of people don't come to my door. I do open the door as there is no way to see whos there.

Who really sells door to door anymore?  I would be leery of someone coming to my door unless I knew they were coming  8)

I usually hide if I'm not expecting anyone at the front door.

I don't "hide".  I may sit here and ignore them but I don't hide.  The only time I even ignore them is if I KNOW who it is and I don't want to talk to them.  I have a crazy neighbor that has come up here a couple times.  I usually will talk to her thru the door.  Thing is she won't leave.

Anybody watch "Young Sheldon" where he goes to his MeMaw's house and it is

knock knock
MeMaw
knock knock
MeMaw

This is her.  Knock knock and she hollers at me.  smh

I told her once I could not open the door right now and she just plopped on the steps and was like "I will wait".
Okay, sorry, I don't want to hurt your feelings but I do not want to talk to you.  :(
