I am the same way with my dogs. My oldest (at a little over ten years) has a short time to live. Her oncologist indicated that the chemotherapy was not doing anything, about two weeks ago so we discontinued the chemotherapy. She is still on benadryl and steroids but has begun to slow down. She does not want to eat her dog food (which was a high point of the day for her) so I have begun preparing better meals with chicken, pork, steak, eggs, rice and vegetables. Our nine month old gets treats every time he performs tasks but my old girl gets treats just for making it to the corner. Since the virus changed our ways, I have been walking the dogs two to three times a day. We pick up bones for the dogs on a weekly basis. We received notice that our next dog was born two days ago which will have her moving in in about eight weeks. Hoping my old gal can hang on that long.
