Off-Topic / Easter Eve/What do you do?
« on: April 11, 2020, 09:43:25 am »Message ID: 1320555
After years of working I finally have the  time to do Easter stuff with now my grandkids.  I didn't have time when my kids where growing up because I always worked holidays.  So I am looking forward to the traditional egg dying.  I ask my 12 yr old granddaughter how many eggs she wanted to color.  She says Oh, not a lot.  So I said 3?  She laughs and says you read my mind.  She also grew up with out the excitement of coloring eggs.  I am so looking forward to coloring eggs.  What are some of the things you do for Easter?

Off-Topic / bbq sauce papaya style
« on: April 07, 2020, 05:30:52 pm »Message ID: 1320153
Since I wasn't sure if I liked fresh papaya or not.  The kids didn't seem to really enjoy it to much.  I turned have of it into home made bbq sauce cooking some spare ribs in it right now.  It is pretty good.  And as usual I didn't right down what I used to make the sauce.  I will slow cook the ribs over night.    Use it for dinner tomorrow.

Off-Topic / Papaya
« on: April 07, 2020, 07:02:45 am »Message ID: 1320059
I am not sure that I like papaya.  I mean I don't dislike it.   I was trying to think what I could make with it.  I seen dressing from the seeds.  That has many ingredients that I don't have on  hand right now.  I thought about using the fruit in a dish like fried pork steak.  I don't think it would hold up to good being fried.  I will probably blend it up and make a smoothy out of it.  What do you think?  Do you like papaya?

Last night we actually read books out loud.  Turned off all phones computers and t.v.  My 2 year old grandson had about a 2 hour melt down.  Totally didn't understand no video's.  It was funny.

Off-Topic / finally some relief
« on: April 04, 2020, 08:35:32 am »Message ID: 1319586
Got in on the catch the truck game.  Made it in time to get toilet paper today.  I was getting ready to cut up old clothing.  So wasn't looking forward to that mess.
Found out yesterday that our food bank gives out bread products and milk 3 times a week.  The school gives lunches to the kids and on Fridays they give enough lunches for the weekend.  That has been a huge relief.
I also learned that since the court house is closed, and getting plates for your car is hard to manage now.  That you won't be pulled over for expired IN transits.  Another big relief.  Since my daughter went back to work and getting the school lunches falls to me.
They did close the play ground equipment at the parks.  We are still allowed to walk the trails but the rules still the same: 6 feet apart, no more than 10 to a group.  Been so cold you don't want to go out.
Just feel so much better the past few days.
How are you doing?

Off-Topic / waiting on trucks
« on: April 02, 2020, 12:26:11 pm »Message ID: 1319316
I feel like I am living 50 yrs ago.  Waiting on a truck to come in.  When I was a kid it was the mail truck.  Came twice a day same time every day.  My father in law was a home delivery milk man.  I can imagine some of his customers waiting on him to show up the same time every time.  Today I was on my way to get some toilet paper when we got a call, the truck has been delayed.  Won't be here until 6 or 7 pm.  The store closes at 8 pm and we are expecting a long line about 45 minutes long.

Great still not crediting.  So discouraging.  Are you still experiencing this problem, with the Tap Surveys?

Off-Topic / asking for a tip?
« on: March 09, 2020, 07:56:00 am »Message ID: 1316268
I used to work as a waitress, never asked or hinted for a tip.  I think that is so rude.  Here lately when I order delivery, I fully intend to tip.  But when the order is 30.00 and I pay with 2 twenties, these people feel the need to say, "Do you want your change?"  I feel like telling them well now that you asked yes all of it.  But,  I tell them yes, with the difference in the tip.  Do you think it's rude to ask for a tip?  I do. I also think it rude not to tip.

Off-Topic / Isn't nature wonderful?
« on: March 06, 2020, 12:38:18 pm »Message ID: 1315982
I just went to throw out a plant that I thought had died.  Low and behold it has new foliage.  It was a carrot top that I had started weeks ago and thought that I had failed.  Well how about that.

Off-Topic / broccoli scraps
« on: March 05, 2020, 08:05:07 am »Message ID: 1315752
I was curious about which store bought veggies can be regrown from scraps.  So I went to youtube and looked up broccoli.  The said that it can be so I tried.  Two steps I did as they said put them in dirt.  They aren't looking to good.  A third on I placed in water.  It's been 2 days no roots but it looks better than the others.  I will keep you posted.

Off-Topic / Nap time
« on: March 04, 2020, 12:23:34 pm »Message ID: 1315579
Do you nap?  I watch my grandkids while my daughter works.  I have the two year old all day.  He is a handful.  I never used to nap.  But, boy sleep seems to be the thing these days.  If I nap with him my house work doesn't get done.  I also like having that time to myself.  Sometimes napping makes me just as tired as if I didn't.  So if you have kids or if you don't do you nap during the day?

Off-Topic / From scratch
« on: March 01, 2020, 10:33:01 am »Message ID: 1315004
I started a garden in my house from scraps.  I managed to get an onion to grow.  I took a slice from the center set it in water and it grew.  Beets cut the top off.  Put it in water yes it grew new leaves.  The leaves are edible.  So I will have the leaves and not a root.  But that's ok with me.  Boc cho and celery same thing put in water for a few days then when they looked good everything went into some potted soil.  Oh I also did carrots but I seem to loose those. Maybe I will get it to work this time.  I recently found out that carrot leaves are edible also.  I was just trying to get them to seed.  So in a few weeks I hope to have a salad.   ;)

Off-Topic / Work it Off
« on: February 17, 2020, 10:10:03 am »Message ID: 1313295
I was listening to the news last night, when I heard them mention a town in my state.  So I quick looked it up and I heard right.  A surgeon will accept cash and set up a plan to pay your bill.  Most importantly, he also has an option for the patient to volunteer his or her time to work off the bill.  What an awesome idea.  Hope more doctors adopt this solution.  I don't agree with school kids volunteering as a way to get their diploma but I can support this idea as a form of payment.  Everyone wins.

Off-Topic / Happy Valentines Day
« on: February 14, 2020, 03:49:45 pm »Message ID: 1313023
:heart:I am invited to a party.  That hasn't happened since I was a teenager.  My daughter also wants me to watch kids.  I told her weeks ago that I was busy.  To tell the truth I just want to stay home out of the cold.    Hope all of you have a very happy day.
