Off-Topic / Re: Pandora is not Free

As with everybody else, I get it is a great app, I get that is not much to pay for a useful and great app, I get that you can uninstall and not use it if you don't want to pay, I get that they need to get their money somehow. I get all of that, and I agree with all of that, but then again, is isn't anything of that which bothers me, it is the lack of courtesy companies in general have these days, including Pandora, the deceiving, the fine print, the catch, the taking advantage of people, etc. I don't use Pandora personally, but if I did, I would have deeply appreciated a notice like a month in anticipation of the service changing to a pay format, or a trial or limited fashion. A little remainder to the email you have to use to register, or a conspicuous note in their interface in addition to said email would have suffice. If they actually did that, then I take everything back, if they didn't, then shame on them and all other companies with those shady practices, regardless of how great and useful and cheap their products are.

I've probably been living under a rock then, because I didn't even know the game existed. I got somewhat intrigued now, and will try and find some info on it and play it, to see what is all about. I like games, specially challenging ones, and it ticks me off that said game is apparently very popular and I didn't know a thing about it.

There's so many testimonials about how the online dating works and such. I do not disregard it completely, at the very least I would be willing to entertain the idea of online dating. But I would probably walk in, with anticipation, expectations and preconceived notions of what it might become, which I don't think would help me in the process. There's more risk involved, unless you meet up with them in person very quickly after the online meeting. Life guarantees nothing. You could find your soul mate in the most unusual conditions under the most unusual of circumstances. Online dating, is not exception, maybe there's a prince charming between all the wolves, but the same can be said in traditional dating.

The news are food for the media. I think there's two ways to go about this. It could be it's just a publicity stunt, as the great majority has categorized it as, or it could be somewhat real, and it's their way of saying "here, we've been dating, here's the pictures, we're happy, let's move on to something else", in a mainly vain attempt to avoid the media having to dig up the story and make the great discovery and spam everything and everyone with the news. I don't know which intentions are behind the revelation, but I'm more interested in what Tiger do on the field, than off the field. And that's saying much, because I'm not a huge golf fan to begin with.

I'm glad as well. I was really mesmerized by the whole event, and everything surrounding it. There is a few points that really got my attention. Firstly, the fact that every single person who knows Francis personally within the Vatican, have the exact same opinion about him, and the common denominator was his humility. To step out of the gates and test his security and greet people and kiss babies, was wonderful. To use the bus instead of a limousine or the popemobil was another sign of his humility. Secondly, contrary to previous Popes where they usually have starting remarks like "let's start the blessings, and let's start praying for the people" etc. his initial remarks where more like "Pray for me". Lastly, what I found the most amusing was the fact that everybody in the world was using all sorts of technology, like smartphones, wi-fi, TVs, radios, tablets, PCs, Laptops, twitter, facebook, etc to follow the event closely, and yet, the event itself is very traditional, ceremonial and stuck to protocol, that some would consider it old fashioned, archaic or antiquated. I indeed was using my smartphone and the social media to have a glimpse of the smoke coming out of the chimney, which was so captivating by the way.

Off-Topic / Re: honey or sugar
« on: March 18, 2013, 09:07:39 am »Message ID: 706254
Well, I'm not too much of a sugar or honey consumer, however, I'd say I use sugar most of the time. Since I don't cook, I can't say I use honey on recipes or baking, but I use some honey on certain meals, not as a cooking process, but mainly as a sort of dressing. If I have to sweeten stuff, I use what's available in the house at that time, we try to keep the unrefined brown sugar kind, but sometimes there's only the fine white one, so I'll use any. I try to stay away from substitutes all the time, because thank Goodness I'm not diabetic, I don't have to use substitutes, and I stick to the cane sugar.

Off-Topic / Re: would you move to another country?

I would consider moving to another country; at the very least I'd entertain the idea. However, I'm very close with all my family, parents, siblings, grandparents, etc. so I will definitely schedule some visits. I think it's gotta be a good reason to move though, like a great job opportunity, or a significant other; still I'd be apprehensive about the notion. In the end, if it doesn't work out, you can always come back and start over, is not like once you leave, it's the end of your life here as you know it, forever and ever, lol.

Off-Topic / Re: Have you ever been stung by a bee?
« on: March 14, 2013, 03:01:48 pm »Message ID: 704574
I have, it was a long time ago, when I was a kid, I got stung in my thumb and on a second occasion in my lip. The second time wasn't too bad, I got a bigger lip, and a little numbness, but wasn't as noticeable, and you could hardly tell; it could have been a honey bee. The one on my thumb, however, was pretty bad. I'm guessing it might have been a hornet or yellow jacket, because my thumb grew almost double in size, and was pounding like it was gonna explode, and the exact location where the sting entered my skin, was hurting kinda bad. The stinger was still attached to my thumb, until I pull it out, lol.

Off-Topic / Re: Twinkies back on shelves by this Summer!

In their absence I've been trying different brands of similar snacks, and I've come to the conclusion that some Hostess snacks are way better than the others; however, I've also found, personally, that some individual snacks from other bakeries are far superior than those of Hostess. Consequently, I now have favorites from different bakeries and would find myself at a crossroads when/if they finally come back this summer. Because for some of my favorite snacks, every store will carry Hostess, but for some other snacks from different bakeries that have now become my favorites, I would have to look around for them, lol.

Off-Topic / Re: would you like to learn another language?
« on: March 13, 2013, 09:11:58 am »Message ID: 703790
I would be totally interested in learning another language, specially that of places I'd love to visit/vacation sometime in the future, and who knows maybe live one day? I'd love to learn as many languages as possible without going overboard, like say 50 something languages, but a few of the very common ones wouldn't hurt. If I could find the time and motivation, I would definitely do it. I've also heard that the more languages you speak, the easier to learn new ones; therefore, it isn't always an uphill battle when it comes to learning new languages and continuing learning them. If you plan to learn a couple of new languages, probably a couple of the most difficult ones and stop there, then it'll be most likely a very hard thing to do.

I am also loving it, thanks FusionCash for bringing it back. A special mention to what used to be one of my favorites (and others too, although they won't admit it), the Swimsuit model, which now has an equivalent in Today's Babe. And a special treat for the ladies as well. We're all winners here at FusionCash.   :bootyshake:

Off-Topic / Re: Home Remedies
« on: March 11, 2013, 09:44:31 am »Message ID: 702656
My family was into home remedies, specially the grandparents, they weren't completely all into home remedies, but somewhat into them. So I got to experience some of 'em, not as a guinea pig, because they were already "proven", perhaps with our parents, or themselves by our great grandparents, lol. The one that I still use to date, and will continue to use is whenever I get food poisoned, I will take a clove or garlic and split it in half, and drink it like if it was a pill. Keep in mind I'm by no means a fan or garlic, specially in that way, I somewhat like the slight flavor it provides to food, but in desperate times, desperate measures. I've come to believe, by own experience and generations before me, that garlic is extremely efficient when it comes to food poison. I once researched online to why the garlic was so successful in treating food poison, and medical facts stated that garlic has one of the most potent naturally occurring antibiotics against food poisoning caused by bacteria (which is very common occurrence). Reading a little further I found that bacterias have membranes to shield them and make them hard to destroy; raw garlic's active compound has the power to breach said membrane, even with the most of stubborn and renegade bacteria like Staphylococcus. I guess most of our Gran Pa's remedies aren't too farfetched after all.

I wouldn't say pretzels are bad, probably not healthy nutritious, but they aren't bad. I do have a wide variety of options when snacking, from the "healthy" choices to the "not so healthy" ones. I just try to take it moderately with the bad snacks. I do trail mix, chips, cookies, pretzels, donuts, ice cream, beef/turkey jerky, string cheese, nuts, popcorn, protein bars etc. I usually walk around the store get whatever catches my eyes, and looks good at the moment, whether bad as nachos, or a "healthi-er" choice like a fiber one bar, cliff bar, or fig newtons.

Off-Topic / Re: typing
« on: March 08, 2013, 02:41:38 pm »Message ID: 701227
It depends where and who am I writing to, but for the most part, I try to be the most grammatically correct I can be; granted it might not be correct all the time. Sometimes, persons who give a good effort to try and make good use of punctuation, grammar and such, may be perceived as pretentious, when in reality they are just trying to express themselves correctly. That is not to say that there aren't pretentious people trying to appear to be better than the rest, and there is where the confusion arises. Personally, I try to detect the tone of the writing, if it seems to me, the is some overly and unnecessary use of a patronizing or condescending tone, then it might just be somebody trying to belittle people, or just somebody with a false sense of grandiosity. Well, I think I'm going off topic a little bit here, but to summarize, in terms of typing (not texting), I almost always try to do it as properly as I can.
