How do you feel about having to be put through a full body scan in order to fly?

I say this, there is always one bad apple that spoils everything for everybody. If a total body scan is necessary to keep air passengers safe, then the scan needs to be done. It's already risky flying in the air, and then when you have an idiot on board trying to bring harm against innocent people that makes things even worse. I think every necessary precautionary procedure needs to be done to ensure the safety of every flight passenger.

Dear sir or mam

I feel it is a good idea because as many of us
Americans know dogs can only go so far to find
hidden things so i do agree with full body scans
or x rays.

i am really impressed with these responses.

there really are some people making some incomprehensible decisions and we need to match their efforts with non-violent solutions like this.

i regret the need for these measures, as i am sure we all do

but i completely support it

very mature responses

Dang, I don't fly, so I'm not familiar with what a full body scan is, but you all make it sound like something out that movie Total Recall that Ahhhrnold had to walk through that showed a giant xray like picture of his body to the whole world as he went.

Seriously, though, it doesn't sound like something I would want to do if I did fly.

I did not fly before 9/11 and I don't fly now. If someone wants to hurt the USA they will find a way. Can't live in fear.

In a day when "personal privacy" involves killing others, it's a no brainer that a full body scan is most definitely in order to keep people safe as possible.

I think people need to suck it up and stop being insecure.
Do you care more about the camera-security officer who's seeing you naked and sees thousands of people like you a day naked so he probably doesn't care? Or would you prefer a gun swinging unshaved Jihad terrorist(I can say this I am Middle Eastern it's not racist!) who has a liquid-fire in his pants??? Thought so.

They need to start "profiling".  This is not racial, ie only because they are black, yellow, white, etc, but behavioral profiling!  Come on, this kid got on board on Christmas Eve w/o a passport, no cash and no luggage!  Let's get real and keep us safe.  I have never flown (I'm 48) and would like to before I die, but until they make the airways safe again, my husband says no way.

many of you mention the "safety" of flying, but far more people die in cars then in the air.  I regret that we are exposed to these risks that are brought on by the human race, rather than natural disasters, etc -- but I will do a total body scan if needed.

My husband is from outside of the US and for us to go visit our family we would do this -- we want to be safe of course, I just think it's sad. It does beat needing to strip down to nothing before boarding  :)

I dont fly, but I think it is a great idea.  Maybe people wont be able to bring drugs, etc. into our country anymore.  I know it will be a hassle for those who fly all the time, but it will make it a safer flight for everyone concerned.

They can scan everybody and everything. Safety is an illusion. If somebody wants to bring down a plane, they will find a way regardless of what security is in place.
I quit flying a couple weeks after 9/11/2001 when my 1 hour flight to Las Vegas started taking 6 hours. It takes less time to drive the 320 miles and security at the Hoover Dam is a joke.
