You know IF I could get paid to "just get over it" I'd be a freaking millionaire. I could buy my own country. I'd name it Get Over It.

push over, huh?

I figure someone who "just gets over" such atrocious behavior committed against them, is pretty much just being someone's "*bleep*".

I wont be anyone's *bleep*.....especially a bitches *bleep*.

Just don't do it......don't be a *bleep*!

Adapting is key to survival. To me, the "*bleep*" would be those who refuse to accept change and so impede to progress of society. Doing so is about as fruitless as trying to swim against the river's current-- you're just gonna wear yourself out going backwards, getting in the way of everyone whizzing forward.

I'm learning as I get older that you can not hold on to things, you have to let things go. Some things are just out of your control; you have to just get over it and move on to something else.

I don't like the Vatican. I'll say it's absolutely ridiculous what they've done to your culture and others' for centuries. You should adapt though. Never assimilate-- just adapt and realize their opinions and actions on things are going to differ from yours despite their atrocious history. You shouldn't have to let go of your roots.

Adapt?...of course.
See, you can comprehend the difference in adapting and assimilation.
We all have no choice but to adapt and thats no issue for most of us.....adaptation is normal.
Assimilation, on the other hand, especially when there is an attempt to force assimilation against ones will is very wrong and immoral.
Look at it in the same light in which you do when people try to shove their religious views down your throat.
The only person who would insist that you change and be more like them is one who thinks they and their ways are better than you and yours.
In other word......a SUPREAMACIST!!!

I'm not implying, that you, Falconer, do not see this, I can see you do and I appreciate it.
However there are all too many folks who still to this day(Angelblahblahblahsoandso) who insist that we disrespect our Ancestors by throwing our Culture, Spirituality and traditions away and adopt a supposed better way.
I'm not going to say that our way is better than their way, just that it works for us and has worked for our peoples for thousands of years.....yes, with adaptations.
Most of us don't go around crowing about how much better our life ways are than others are, we don't ask others to change and be like us in fact most of us find it very ridiculous and insulting when they do try that. We just expect to exercise our right to simply be who we are.
If someone doesn't like how we are.....just be thankful we aren't trying to make you act like us ;0)

I think the 'average american' is just so drilled into the ground culturally now that it's hard for us to actually see others POV's in different cultures. We think others' traditions are goofy...but ours are really no better (go to a catholic church...see what I mean).

As long as you're not pulling a Westboro on anyone, I assure you no one would probably have a problem with this!

The instances of attempted forced assimilation going on to this very day are far too numerous to list here, but a couple examples just off the top of my head would be the push for various "english only" laws (many of our peoples speak only their native tongue)or the many instances where tribal enterprises are regulated out of existence in order to make us less self sustaining.

Keep in mind that all "federally recognized" Nations are supposed to be Sovereign Nations.

Just because so many people say words to the effect that everyone is equal or that they do not feel like they are superior to others does not make these words true.

I see that even in this forum nearly every day, not to mention seeing it blatantly in the real constantly......those who can't or don't see it.....choose not to see it.

Funny how Falconer reiterates what I said and then Walksalone leaps to agree, haha. Here I was thinking you're a moron when in fact you're just too stubborn to concede a point to someone you've disagreed with in the past. That I can understand more. Was beginning to wonder how any of your people survived if they shared your unwillingness to adapt.

No Gumby, you said that if I didn't like the status-quo, which is still forced assimilation, melting pot blah blah blah we are better than everyone else, mindset, then "GTFO".

That I strongly disagree with.
Adapt?.....it's simply impossible not to.

I can see someone has sub-par comprehension skills. You should really start reading what I type rather than quitting after the first sentence to go find your scalping knife.

Also, unlike yourself, I consider both of us to be a part of this "we" you speak of, though I most vehemently do not feel we are better than anyone else.
