Do you like going to the county fairs?  My hubby and I went last Saturday to the demolition derby and tonight is the last night and they are once again having outlaw demolition derby and if the rain stays away we are going.  It is a lot of fun!

I love all of the fairs and festivals during the summer. It seems like every city, town, two-hick cross-roads has something going on at least one weekend during the summer. The town that my parents live in only has a population of about 500, but over the 4th of July, the have their town celebration and the crowds swell to triple that in size! Last year they had a DJ for the teen night, a regular band for the block party, a talent show, kiddie tractor pull, adult tractor pull, fishing contest (there are 3 lakes that touch in the town's boundaries), not to mention that all of the bars in town (the town boasts 4 bars) had their own bands and events going on.

Then there's the county and state fairs. The county fair is ok, you've got the demo derbies, tractor pulls, etc. But the state fair is awesome. I think it's one of the largest in the nation. Not only do they have those motorized "sporting" events, but they also have all sorts of other events... A bunch of bands and musicians, comedians, jugglers, magicians, and even a diving crew. And the musicians are from all different levels of expertise, from amateurs to nationally acclaimed acts: Boys 2 Men are playing on one of the free stages, and the grandstand has Kiss, Rush, Seether, Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, even "Weird Al"! I'm so excited for the state fair to start!
