Video  games have nothing to do with it, Kids were watching violent acts before they were playing them.  I grew up playing doom,Resident evil,Mortal Kombat, duke nukem 3d.  Granted those are no grand theft autos.

No Violent Video Games Dont Give Kids Bad Ideas. if a kid thinks its ok steal a car or shot someone cause it was in a video game, I am sorry but video games might not be his biggest problem.

Hi,

I play violent games daily, but I am still what I am after games.  IMHO it is up to the parents that will ultimately influence the child, speaking from experience.

No, they learn it from the adults around them long before they're able to play video games.

They desensatize them to violence a little, but so does a lot of the media nowadays. It depends on the age they're at whether they should be allowed to see things like that, and parents really need to start paying attention to the ratings on the box.

No, a "mature" game is not for your 12 year old to play.

I do not believe so..I have three kids all have played and play some violent games and they are really good well rounded kids..I think if parents do not take the time to open a dialog on things like video game violence and ect..then it could be a problem it is not the games, music or what ever else seems to get the blame it is parents and how they relate and talk with their kids

I think perhaps the only way to end this debate forever would be to have a truman show kind of experiment.  4 babies, 2 grow up playing violent video games, and 2 do not even know video games exist

Not really...Peer pressure I believe contributes the most to bad behavior. Kids pressure one another to drink alcohol, into using drugs, having sex. They pressure one another into doing stupid stunts, and bulling. Television also contributes to bad behavior. Just look at the filthy shows like Gossip Girls, The Real World, Jersey Shore and The Wild Boys. As far as violent video games, I don't think kids will go out shooting one another because of a game, but they might if they have bad influences, and if they come from a broken home with absolutely no guidance and if they hang around the wrong crowds.

I believe it does in addition to violent movies. It makes it harder for children to know the difference between reality and fiction.

Bad parenting leads to bad behavior...plain and simple.

I let my kids play all of my games. And they understand each and everyone. They know right from wrong and what is real and fiction.

Agreed. Video games do not turn kids violent.

I believe it does in addition to violent movies. It makes it harder for children to know the difference between reality and fiction.
If children cannot tell the difference between reality and fiction, this is not a reason to blame video games and movies. This is when parents should step in and do something.
