Julie,

Rose did win $500.00! There was one $1000.00 prize that went to another artist too.

I did a no no.  They had lobster quesidilla's and I'm allergic to shellfish....but I love it.  My allergy hasn't been that bad though....just a rash and the roof of my mouth would get itchy and my lips would swell a bit...just a bit...so...I had one.  Well when I got home I have a horrible sore throat, headache, rash across my belly, ringing in my ears and my lips have little ulcers on them.  I just took my second dose of pain relief and I'm hoping to make the day at school.  More on that later.

I'm glad you are going to get away with Veronica for a day.  That's a nice break and it will be quality time for the two of you.  I hope you get the girls too.

Good luck with the lab work.  We'll talk more later.

Kim,

That's wonderful about Rose winning $500.00!  I know she's got to be real proud.

Young lady, I sure hope you are okay tonight.  Do you keep an epi pen with you?  I'm sorry you are reacting to the lobster quesidilla.  You've got me worried now.  I have to keep an epi pen with me now because of the Xolair shots.

I got my labwork done.  It took awhile for them to figure out what some of the codes were and they had to look in the big book.  Then I heard one of them call my pulmonologist's office and talk with them about making sure they had the codes right.  There were 5 vials of blood taken.

Then I went to the hospital to see a friend who's got pneumonia, bronchitis, and whatever else they said.  He took his antibiotics pretty well, but did not do what the doctor said about taking the time off and resting at home.  It caught up with him.  He's supposed to be able to go home tomorrow.

Busy night with the kids working on our Christmas program.  They were a bit on the wild side but we made it through the practice.  The handbell choir is doing really well with their song, too.

Okay, please let me know how you are doing!  Hope you have a nice day!

Julie  :)

Julie,

I ended up taking the entire day off school.  I still have a sore throat and a headache that comes and goes.  I did get some knitting/crocheting done.  There is still so much to be done that I get nervous about it if I allow myself to think.

I'll bet you are busy getting those kids ready for their bells program.  Don't over do it.  This holiday bustle is not what it's supposed to be about if we bite off more than we can chew comfortably.

I try to do for people all year but the problem is everything is attached to Christmas giving and nobody remembers all year.

Gotta keep plugging along though.  This will be a really busy weekend.  More candies, cookies, gift wrapping, baking, studying and some household chores too.  Yikes.

Hope you have a good day too.

Kim,

It's probably the best thing staying home today.  I hope you are feeling better tonight.  I was worrying about you.  It's after 9:00 tonight and I'm just getting on.  I did way too much yesterday and it caught up with me today.  But I'm okay.  Please look out for yourself okay?

Gotta do some laundry and cleaning tomorrow.  Yuck!  But it has to be done, right?  Just once in awhile it would be nice to have the special "talent" of Samantha from Bewitched, lol.

Is tomorrow your last day of school before Christmas break?  I know you're ready for some time off.  When I just went back and re-read your message, I noticed you included "studying" with your weekend activities.  I guess that answers my question about tomorrow, lol!

I still have a bit to finish up for Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers.  Then comes the wrapping the gifts.  I have the girls' Christmas finished up, but Randal hasn't called yet about the weekend while we are down there.  Different family members have told me I should try to quit worrying about it because they think Randal won't follow through again.  I may be discouraged, this is true, but a Nana's (and a Mom's) heart doesn't give up hope.

Hope you had a restful night.  Have a great day today!

Julie  :)

Hi Dianna!  It's always a pleasure to hear from you.  That's great that things are progressing towards moving back to Michigan!  A lot can be accomplished in a year and I hope things go smoothly for you and your family with this.  No worries about mentioning it on FB.  I actually haven't been on for 3 or 4 days now, except to tell a couple Happy Birthday.  You know I'm not feeling up to par when I don't get on FB and catch up with everyone and play my favorite games.  Maybe tomorrow...
Take care and we'll talk more soon!

Dianna,  Glad you are getting the possible chance to go back home.  Glad too that the crafts are selling well.  The extra cash will come in handy during the holidays.  Maybe a different picture of the accent pictures???? Dark background or something so they show up real well.  Just a suggestion.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Julie,

I have school until noon on Tuesday.  Today is the last test and I have one homework paper due on Monday but the rest is a breeze.

I did make some candy last night...peppermint pieces stirred in to white chocolate, the little pretzels with a hershey's kiss and an M&M and some nut clusters.  I still want to make the turtles, several batches of hard tack and some cookies over the weekend so I can pack containers for the teachers. As you'll probably see on FB I found a new yarn with sequins in it that I love, love, love.  I made two hats last night.  I still have several *bleep* of yarn I want to use up but I'm making another trip to Pat Catan's to load up on this yarn.  My creative juices are flowing!

Still not feeling 100% but I have improved. You need to slow down child!  When is your bells concert scheduled?  Maybe after that you can take some down time and catch up with yourself.

Bob is leaving the day after Christmas.  I will have the time between then and when I return to school on the 2nd alone and can catch up on the house and getting reorganized before the next semester starts.  Not too bad though as they did have him scheduled to drive equipment to FL on the 20th and they were going to fly him back home on the 23 but they canceled that trip.

Glad it's Friday.  TTYL,

Kim

Hi Kim,

You're making my mouth water talking about the candy and cookies!  Those are always homemade gifts that are much appreciated and enjoyed.  My mother-in-law always makes things like that at Christmas.  Veronica loves to spend a night with her occasionally and enjoys having her teach her a lot of things like that.  And of course her grandmother is thrilled that at least 2 of her grandkids (Veronica and a cousin) want to carry on the family's traditions.

Your yarn sounds scrumptious!  Your description reminds me of a series of mystery books, written by Maggie Sefton, that I really enjoy reading.  The main character sort of helps to solve mysteries/murders because of hunches, or ideas, or doing "detective" work when she should be careful.  All of the other main characters revolve around a yarn store.  So many of them meet during lunch or time off, or to relax, at the huge table to crochet or knit while yakking. There is a connected Cafe where they enjoy coffee, tea, food.  The store is filled with yarn, seasonal too, and the author always describes all the different kinds of yarn there is, including texture, rainbow, pastels, brights, sparkling, etc.  That's one reason I enjoy reading her books, too.  Some of her titles include, "Skein of the Crime," "Knit One, Kill Two," "Needled to Death," "A Deadly Yarn," just to mention a few.  It's light reading.  In the back of the books, she includes recipes of seasonal goodies that were used in the book, and she includes a yarn stitch and how to do it, or even a yarn pattern for a scarf or hat.

I'm glad you are improving somewhat with feeling a little better.  The Christmas program is next Wednesday night.

That's great that Bob has at least Christmas day with you before leaving.  I know you'll get a lot of accomplished on break, but make sure to get out and about, okay?

I'm glad it's Friday, too.  I haven't heard from Randal about the weekend.  I'm guessing by now that he really is under an ultimatum from her that's it's either her or us, not both.  I'm pretty sure he just doesn't want to admit it to me.  If that's the case, I don't like having the girls dangled in front of me and then pulled back.  I'd rather him just be honest instead of getting my hopes up just to have them crash.  I know it's going to take time, if I can just hold on emotionally.

Hope you and Bob have a nice Friday evening and a wonderful weekend!

Julie  :)

Julie,

I can't believe Randal did what he did...or at least it appears so at this time.  Surely he'll have second thoughts at Christmas??? It sounds like you're going to have to call a meeting with him.  Tell him he has to set aside time to get with you and Rodney and talk, heart to heart and one on one.  This just can't continue and you're going to have to find some common ground for the sake of being able to have a relationship with your grandchildren.

I know your heart is breaking.  I wish there was something I could do or say to make you feel better.

I took my test yesterday but don't know the official results.  I think I did well though.  I only had one class in the morning at 8 and the next wasn't until 2 so I came home and made 5 batches of hard tack and crocheted three hats.  I made a total of 7 hats yesterday.  Yes it's the truth!  I have one hat ready to mail to a friend this morning and a scarf going out to my SIL's mother who is in a rest home.  I love him and his mom as if they were my own family and miss not seeing her during the holidays.  She's had a series of strokes and I hope she remembers who I am.  The scarf is a grayish blue so I told her in my Christmas message that it would accent her pretty blue eyes.  She was a beautiful young woman and is still a lovely looking older woman and is a beautiful soul from the tips of her toes to the top of her head.  She is the essence of a true Christian...so soft and loving with not a mean bone in her body.  Always smiling.  Thriving on being in a rest home, around other people and having games, entertainment and people to visit with.

Today's schedule is really full:  making reindeer dust for Amya and a couple of other school friends to give to their grandchildren http://christmas.organizedhome.com/gifts-crafts-gift-tags/magic-reindeer-food

Making turtles.  Using a turtle shaped candy mold, caramel ice cream topping and peacans, baking some cookies (not sure what yet but have leftover m&m's and peanut butter chips and a chocolate cake mix to work with.

Making more hats.  Have two homework assignments due on Monday and need to get the teachers gifts ready to carry in to school on Monday.  Tuesday is a half day.

I'll still have a few hats to make between Tuesday and Christmas but I should be able to get them all done along with getting everything wrapped.

I guess we will spend Christmas Eve with his kids at Jess's new place then we'll drive to Erie on Christmas day and spend it with my son and his fiance's mom and dad.  We'll spend the night there and that way I can just drop Bob off at the truck so he can leave for Florida.  They will fly him home for New Years and will fly him back down to Florida.  He'll drive the truck back so I'll have to pick him up in Erie on his last return.

I doubt I'll get to go to WV after all so I'll have to mail their things and plan a trip later on during my next break.

Sorry I've chewed your ear so long.  Somehow listing all the stuff I need to do in a note to you has helped me organize my thoughts.  Off to play my games then the kitchen.  It was funny yesterday...I had a batch of candy on the stove that was supposed to go to 300 degrees.  I took a minute (Yeah right) to play Zombieland thinking I'd be back to the kitchen in time.  NOT!  I took that candy up to 330 degrees and scorched it really good.  I told Bob that's what I got for killing Zombie clowns.

Later gator...I'll be seeing you about.

Kim,

You can chew my ear as long as you want - I always enjoy reading what you write!  :)   I am very impressed with how much you have been making and getting done!!  If you can make 7 hats in one day, I know you'll get the rest done spit-spot!  You'll have to take a couple of pics of them so I can see how they turned out.

That's neat and fun for Amya making reindeer dust for her.  She'll have fun with that.  When you are done with everything and Christmas is passed, you won't know what to do with your hands, lol!

It sounds like you have a busy schedule with getting together with the family at Christmas.  I hope all goes well for everyone.  We had a nice afternoon Christmas with my FIL.  Randal never did call.  Just supporting and encouraging me is very much appreciated.  It is time for some kind of meeting, that's for sure.  I feel pretty sure that DIL has given him the ultimatum and he's not got upset with her enough to put his foot down.  I did take the girls Christmas gifts in case, but I'll just hold on to them for now.

Your SIL's mother sounds like a truly sweet lady.  That's real nice what you are making for her - I know she will love it even more because you made it.

Good luck on your test!  Oh, and yes, you are a funny lady to fight zombie clowns and let your candy scorch, lol!!  I can only imagine what Bob thought, hee hee!  It's so easy to get caught up in those games sometimes and what you think is only a couple of minutes turns out to be 30 minutes, or more, ha ha!!  Did you do your batch over?

Hope your Sunday is great!

Julie  :)

Julie,

I made a total of 5 batches of candy the day I scorched the other because of the zombie war.  Otherwise it would have been six.  I wasn't as productive yesterday.  I had promised the neighbor, Vince, to type a legal document for him.  I did the typing but he stayed to visit too and I used up a few hours with him.  Poor old guy.  His wife was injured many years ago while walking on a treadmill they had purchased from Sears.  The safety key didn't work right and when she fell from the machine it didn't shut off and she got really torn up.  Went through a lot of suffering.  They tried to sue and had a valid case but lost.  He is determined to reopen the case because there was evidence tampering and other things that happened but he has to take this to a higher level and although he is well spoken his letter is full of a bunch of big works and legal jargon but it doesn't flow right.  I don't know how to tell him without hurting his feelings and he dictates rather than ask for advice.  I don't have the time to tackle this issue in the proper way.  God love him...he is right and should win in court but nobody is going to listen and there isn't any money to be gained by a lawyer, one way or another, so nobody will take up the fight for him.

Today is going to be a homework day and finishing up wrapping what gifts have to go in for the teachers and a couple of good friends.

Yesterday afternoon I looked at my cell phone but not until late in the afternoon.  (I'm not one to carry it with me or pay much attention to it on weekends.)  I realized that I had a missed call from my son that had come in at 2:41 am.  I called him back to find out why he had called me so early (or late) and realized that he is in the hospital.  It appears that he had a major problem with the medications the doctor had put him on for anxiety.  He swears he almost died and was ready to just give in to the peaceful feeling when he got mad and started to fight to live.  He is only 30.  They kept him again last night and are running some tests.  They said something on his EKG doesn't look right too.  The doctor had him on five different medications and apparently wasn't monitoring him very well.  That's what happens when you don't have insurance and are at the mercy of people that just don't really care.

Well dear I'll see you about on FB games and will talk to you more later.

Make your Sunday special in some small way.

Kim

Kim,

That is a real shame about your neighbor's wife.  I feel so bad for both of them.  And here was someone just trying to exercise and ends up like that.  I hope for both their sakes that someone will feel for their situation and take it for them.  Please let me know how things go.

I'm really sorry what's happened with your son, and sure do hope he'll be okay.  That's really scary.  Do keep me posted.  5 meds for anxiety seem like an awful lot at once.  Do you know what any of them are?  Is he in the same hospital his girlfriend works at?

Speaking of meds, this Daliresp that has been messing with my stomach is still doing so.  I've been switching between Immod AD, Pepto Bismol, and Mylanta.  It's also got my acid reflux stirred up majorly.  I guess I should call the dr. about it.  I know they are common side effects but how long are they common to go on like this?   :dontknow:

Randal never called.  We cancelled our motel reservations for now.  Years ago, when I was teaching Music and Chorus from Kindergarten through High School Chorus, the youth pastor and Randal really clicked.  This man is a pastor now and he and his wife started a ministry for troubled teens.  Anyway, he is also a former Marine, short, black, and strong as nails.  Randal used to spend a lot of time with his family and this man really worked with Randal through the rebellious years.  Veronica asked us and we said fine, that she wanted to contact them and let them know what's going on with Randal and family.  They only live a few minutes away from Bon's family and several miles from the base housing.  They have already re-connected with Randal through FB (at least Randal accepted him as friend...) and have been commenting on Bon and his pics of the girls and all.  They are having them over for dinner soon.  I know this friend of ours will assess things and be able to discern what to maybe do to help.  I am very thankful for this because Randal has always had the utmost respect for him.  I hope Randal will still respond the same.

I hope you have a super day tomorrow.  You will make a lot of people happy with your gifts.  Good luck on your test, too.  All of my household are off now and are looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow, for once!  They all get up around 4:30 a.m., so to sleep until 7:00 or 8:00 is sleeping in for them, lol.

Talk with you later!

Julie  :)
