There is a really good "B" movie called "The Signal" it's funny and gory and intense. I highly recommend it.

Depends on what you want. Do you want classic horror or do you want jump out of your seat modern horror? Do you want blood and gore or just thrills? I like the original Nightmare On Elm Street for a *bleep* movie. Paranormal Activity 2 was a good thriller. As well as Boogeyman. My suggestion would be to go to Youtube and search for horror movies and watch clips. The Grudge was an awesome movie in the theater but wasn't that great on DVD so don't expect all top rated movies to be the same on DVD as they were in theaters.

someone already said "the exorcism of emily rose" - i really like that movie.
the "grudge" movies freak me ouuut!
i like "one missed call" pretty well - although i've had a couple of people tell me they thought it was cheesy. i thought it was surprisingly decent.
"boogeyman" is okay.
"pulse" is decent.
i like the "hostel" movies and the "28 days"/"28 weeks" movies.

if you're going for zombies, the "resident evil" movies are good!
i also like "land of the dead" and "dawn of the dead"..
slightly lesser quality zombie movies are "automaton transfusion" and "dance of the dead" - i like them.

unfortunately my horror movie knowledge is pretty mainstream  :dontknow:

Hmm, I haven't seen many horror HORROR movies, but I do love suspensful movies, like Disturbia! That one kept me on the edge of my seat! Ok, not the edge, I was literally jumping off of my seat! I loved the suspense. I recommend it!

My personal favorites are the following:
The Shining
Nightmare on Elm Street series (original - particularly the first one)
Scream series (particularly the first one)
April Fools Day (1986, was never mainstream, but was surprisingly good)

There are several Hitchcock classics worth checking out (Rear Window, Psycho, The Birds, etc)

If you are looking for spoofs of the horror genre, I'd recommend Shaun of the Dead, and Zombieland - not bad for a horror flick, and really funny (in a strange way of course).
