I'd buy a john deere. They make great lawncare products.

i have no idea. we moved from an apartment so didnt have or know anything about lawnmowers. about 2 months into living here a guy knocks on my door, says he works at the mechanics on the corner of my street and offers to cut my front lawn for $20. i told him i'd pay him $40 if he would do the back yard too and he walked back to his work, pulled a lawnmover, a rake and an edger out of his benz and got started and has taken care of lawn ever since then. and when i move next week he'll start coming to my new house to take care of it there as well  ;D

It really all depends on your needs.  Do you have a small or large lawn?  If it's going to be a push mower, does it need to be self-propelled?  Do you want a gas mower, corded electric, cordless electric?  Are you looking to bag or mulch the clippings?  There really are too many variables to flatly say one brand is the best.

We have a Neuton mower, and it does a great job.  It's a cordless electric which means no gas, oil, fumes, engine maintenance, etc.  Just plop the battery in and mow.  When done, take the battery out and re-charge it.  It costs like $0.10 a re-charge.  It can either bag or mulch.  You can also actually talk to someone in the yard while mowing.  The noise difference compared to a gas mower is unreal.  We couldn't be more happy with it.  Worx also makes a very nice battery mower as well.

I have to say buy American if at all possible we need to support our own workers for a change, including the making of lawnmowers.
