Even if we forget about biblical people like Sarah, who had a child when she was 90, look at David Letterman who had his son at age 52. He always jokes if he would have waited 10 years, he and his son would have something in common. They both would have been in diapers.

Never too old. If you can't have one by natural child birth, there is always adoption and foster care. As a single person, I cared for a "foster child" for 4 years until he was 18. He stayed with me, until he was 22 while he went to school. He went from D's & F's in junior high to finishing high school with a 3.94 G.P.A. From 18-22, I didn't see a lot of him, between school his ROTC, and his job, he was hopping. We had good times even when he was at college. A typical college student, home on breaks, calls to say he needs money :). I would go out to the university and we would have a dinner or something, to sit and talk.  By time he was nearing the end of his schooling, he was tragically killed in an auto accident. It was the other person's fault, but no charges were ever filed that I know of.

At his funeral, his friends from high school and the University, said Micah talked about me all the time, and they also told me how much Micah loved me and valued what I had done for him during the last 8 years. We had a special relationship, and I will never forget him. I look forward to the day I can meet him again in heaven. Not bad for someone, who has never had children, eh?  :angel12:

I was lying in bed the other night, looking up at the stars, and thinking, "Where in the heck is my roof?"

i don't think there's such thing too old to have a child... for as long as you can have it and you want it, it doesn't matter of the age..

When mother nature says the factory is closed.

Rofl...thank for making me laugh today.
I don't think there is a right or wrong answer to this question.
I have had children later in my life. (Not Biological)
These kids have changed my life forever.

I would say keeping up with the little rascals would be much easier
in your younger years but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have kids.

Mature adults can handle many "kid situations" much easier.

I could write on this for days..........
bottom line - each situation is different.

Young parents die too.  My ex bf lost both patents by the time he was 12 and they didn't have him when they were old.  Nothing is guaranteed.

No doubt, but...there is no getting around the fact that older parents will have a much shorter time with their kids when they reach adulthood than younger parents.  Statistically and biologically.

Rule of thumb: You shouldn't be a senior citizen when the kid graduates high school!!!

That's what I was sayin'!   ;D

My sister is 42 and is pregnant with her last child.  She started late, and wanted to round out her family.  My kids are 16 years apart oldest to youngest, because I started early and ended late.  I wouldn't trade my "baby" for the world.  Biolically I can still have more and I am 49.  IF I did get pregnant it would be an act of God and I would look at it as a blessing and raise it.  What else could I do?

To have a child is a blessing regardless of your age.  I know that some people do have their kids after 45.  As long as the child will have a parent that will love the child, then that is all that matters.

I don't know for me it was after 35.. I had kids at 19 & 33 and that was enough for me.  I already feel old with my youngest so I guess it's all in perception.

I am not  sure I would say it depends on the womans healh and risks.  For example my daughter has one child who will be 20 this October, she wants to have a child with her husband but she just turned fourty in July.  I would say go for it but she has fibromyalgia, chronic pain, fatigue, COPD, Restless leg, and the meds she is on it just wouldn't be good for her, she checked with her doctor who does her pap checks up and they said she could that the there a chance she wouldn't get worse as well as a chance that she would be the same with here medical problems.  I sure hope she doesn't but I am only here mother she will do what she wants.
