This begs the question of whether or not a virtual presence constitutes an 'existence'.  My guess would be that if your avatar can 'die' in a game while the player remains virtually unharmed, virtual existence is not equivalent to physical existence.  This regards current technology, rather than a theorectically more fully-immersive one.

Nah, if I were to blaspheme, I'd suggest that the invisible pink unicorn manifests as Chuck.  However, I'm reluctant to cause a schism of the CoTIPU, (church of the invisible pink unicorn), with Chuck as an infidel prophet.
