Is it a tradition to throw out your old dishes and get new dishes at the end of the year?

I've not heard of a tradition of throwing away dishes at the end of every year. If you choose you want a tradition to throw away your dishes every year than you can!

Never heard of that tradition.  Sounds like a waste to me.  I only throw things out if it's old or I don't need it anymore.

I agree, I keep my dishes until I absolutely need to replace them OR until I realize I need to break down cause I'm at 3 big plates, 2 small, 4 bowls and can't host a proper dinner - yes I am accident prone when it comes to dishes lol

No, but I wish I was rich enough to either:
A- Have someone do this dishes for me.
or
B- Throw the dirty ones out and have a new dish each time I use one.
But sadly, I am broke.
Haha.

that sounds pretty wasteful to me too, and i've never
heard of that as a tradition! but i guess if you have the
money to do it and are giving your dishes away to goodwill
or salvation army, then more power to you...

i like my dishes though! i have a unique collection.
they're all from different places. i've never bought a set.
[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

I have never heard of that tradition.  Sounds like something the filthy rich might do.  If so,  I hope that they are donating the old ones to a charity of some kind.  The local soup kitchens could always use some dishes.

Lol.....I have mix and match dishes. Some mine, some my hubbys before we were married.  I could never afford to throw them out each year. Especially with how much they cost now days.
