Pet Hair on Furniture?
« on: February 20, 2012, 08:41:42 am »
I just read another tip...

This one is on Pet Hair.

Totally loved this one.. since we have 2 big dogs, and one inside cat. Fur is definitely flying in our house.  Even though I vac everyday.. cover the furniture with clean sheets.. oh and also a clean sheet over top of our cali-king bed.  Sometimes the hair gets where it is not suppose to.

I go through so many lint rollers!!!!!   :BangHead:

Well......

Just read that if you put on a rubber glove..
You can brush the hair right off your furniture!!!!

Surely beats having to buy stock in the lint roller company!!!   :D

So put it to the test... and tell me what you think!

yes   :dontknow:  no

Do you think this would save you some money?

I sure do!  ((of course I will still have the lint rollers on hand... but will not have to buy cases of them ))  haha...

Pet hair --- ugh.
If I didn't have 2 dogs, I wouldn't have to clean house.....lol
The things we do for the love of our animals.

Vacuuming is the best way I have found to rid the house of pet hair.....
and yet, its just never all gone.    :sad1:

Love your suggestion. Here is one for you. We had a toyhauler for a while and while traveling with our Chesapeake Bay Retriever we found an implement in an RV store pet area that works wonders on the carpet. It is like a rubber broom. It combs all the hair that gets caught in the carpet out of the rug before vacuuming. We carried a high power shop vac and so the rug was always well vacuumed. However, when we got this implement I was shocked at the amount of hair that could come out of what I knew was a well vacuumed rug. Thanks for your suggestion!

I've used work gloves.  The cheapo ones with silicone nubs.  Petting the cat with them on actually removes a fair amount of hair too.  Bet the rubber glove would to the same.

See that is a great idea!!!  We used to have a glove we bought for petting/combing animals with the glove.

I will be looking for those gloves!! Thanks for the comment!   :dog:    :cat:

GREAT idea!!!  I will have to look for that.

That would work great for along edges of the house... where the hair seems to collect.   :cat:   :dog:

Somewhere I read that a dryer sheet will remove pet hair.  Just rub in across the furniture - don't know whether or not it works.  I cover chairs with towels and then daily run them through the clothes dryer on no heat.

I find that paper tape works very well removing the pet hair from the house. The adhesive grabs the hair and holds it fast and you just throw it away. This way kitty and I stay friends. Try it it works! The rest of the pet hair that is not on furniture I just vacuum it up. :) :) :)

use duct tape
[/duct tape works but I think it's probably more expensive than lint rollers.]

What we like to do is give our dog a good brushing to get all that loose fur off her.  That tends to do the trick and leaves the house about 80% free of hair.  The rest we just vacuum up.  Haven't tried the glove idea but that might work.  I saw something on TV a few days ago which was basically a lint roller but it was washable.
