Best movie lines
« on: June 30, 2012, 05:47:01 pm »
I apologize if this has already been a topic.

I like Clint Eastwoods line in "For a few dollars more"the duel at the end when the other bounty hunter is at a dis-advantage and the chimes for the locket are running out and all of a sudden the chimes get loud again and Eastwood is holding the other <same>locket and has a gun on the enemy and  walks over to him and says "now we start"..and of course the music is dramatic in the background.I just love his spaghetti westerns.

It comes from the movie "A bridge too far," when the commander of the II SS Panzer Korps, Obergruppenfuehrer Wilhelm Bittrich asks OKW Kommanduer Generalfeldmarschall Walter Model for permission to blow the bridge at Nijmegen.  "Herr Feldmarshall, bitte um erlaubnis die Bruecke sprengen zu duerfen."

"Size matters not.Judge me by my size do you?And well you should not.For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is.Life creates it-makes it grow. It's energy surrounds us and binds us.Luminous beings are we,not this crude matter! You must feel the Force around you. Here, between you-me...the tree...the rock...everywhere.Yes.Even between the land and the ship......."

"You see, the night that Corky walked into the Blue Bottle, and before he knows what's happening, Bob here takes a shot at him! And he misses, 'cause he's so damn drunk. Now that bullet whizzing by panicked old Corky, and he did the wrong thing. He went for his gun in such a hurry that he shot his own damn toe off. Meantime Bob here, he's aiming real good, and he squeezes off another, but he misses, because he's still so damn drunk, and he hits this thousand-dollar mirror up over the bar. And now, the Duck of Death is as good as dead. Because Corky does it right. He aims real careful, no hurry, and... BAM! That Walker Colt blew up in his hand, which was a failing common to that model. You see, if old Corky had had two guns instead of just a big *bleep*, he'd would have been there right to the end to defend himself. "  -- Little Bill Daggett

George Clooney in "From Dusk Till Dawn"  "No, they weren't psychos...they were vampires.  Psychos don't explode when sunlight touches them, I don't give a f*** how crazy they are."  That movie had so many good one liners.

The scene in "The African Queen" where Rose and Charlie are being married by the German captain just before their hanging. The Captain says, "By the authority vested in me by Kaiser Wilhelm II, I pronounce you man and wife. Proceed with the execution."

Some all-time favorite funny movie line/lines that are from the movie Mr. Mom
(with Michael Keaton, Teri Garr, Martin Mull)

The scene where Caroline Butler's (Teri Garr) boss, Ron Richardson (Martin Mull) comes to pick her up in the morning, and has a conversation with her husband, Jack (Michael Keaton):

Jack Butler: "You wanna beer?"
Ron Richardson: "It's 7 o'clock in the morning!"
     short pause
Jack Butler: "Scotch?"

How come it won't play?

Dr. Emmett Brown: Don't worry. As long as you hit that wire with the connecting hook at precisely 88 miles per hour, the instant the lightning strikes the tower... everything will be fine.
I was lying in bed the other night, looking up at the stars, and thinking, "Where in the heck is my roof?"

I like the line, "hasta la vista, baby" from terminator 2. I thought that was funny and cool, I don't know if somewhere in the story, he (arnold) had learned it. Or it was added on later.
