And, lest it be momentarily forgotten, the posted responses between the bible-babbling blind-faith believers, and those who would like to see proof of their claims.......
 :o ;D

Well, that situation doesn't really parallel the measures/countermeasures paradigm because the blind-faithers haven't come up with any viable 'countermeasure' to reasoning.  The irrational non-reasoning of 'the bible says so' sans evidence doesn't counter logic at all.

My point being (besides being one which I now regret mentioning) is that their 'countermeasures' to reasoning ARE viable in THEIR minds:
They don't consider 'the bible says so' as irrational, they DO consider it to BE it's own evidence, and THEY believe that their reasoning/non-reasoning DOES counter logic.

How come it won't play?

The problem with such self-delusions is that they don't work; a delusion isn't a viable substitute for that which is substantive.  For instance, someone who sincerely 'believes' that they are bulletproof can still be shot, despite their self-delusional 'faith'.  Such blind faith is not only counter-productive in the non-bulletproof metaphorical sense but, more pragmatically as well.  In practicality, illogic does not counter logic, unreasoning is ineffective against reasoning and irrationality is a spinning hamster wheel disregarded by rationality as circular.
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.
