I took my 2 required years of Spanish in high school.  Had I realized how often it would come in handy in my current line of work I would have continued studying it.  Now I am trying to learn American Sign Language.

I took Spanish in high school and Russian in college.  Really liked Russian, although I've forgotten most of both.  I'd like to brush up on both and maybe pick up German.

One thing I've found, is even though I don't remember much of the languages themselves, I do remember most of the sentence structures; and that has helped me in my job where I work with people from all over the globe.  Knowing the different grammatical structures from other languages allow me to understand people trying to speak English (those where English is their second language).  I can recognize the native language structure in how they are putting English sentences together, so I have an easier time interpreting what they are trying to say.  I've found this to be a very valuable skill.

In school I took Spanish for three years.  It came in handy recently on my trip to Spain.  I forgot a lot but I was able to communicate a little.  I also learned some Chinese from living in Asia.  My Spanish is better than my Chinese but they are both bad.  I'd like to be fluent in both but I get lazy and don't study.

I have studied ancient Greek and Hebrew - nothing that I can actually use in conversation today, but interesting nonetheless.

I took 4 and a half years of Spanish in middle and high school, then I took some American Sign Language in college.
My sister-in-law is a sign language interpreter, and it's an awesome language. I really want to learn more.

I took French in high school because everyone else was taking spanish.  Had to be different.   Oh I wish I had taken spanish -- I could really use it now and I am struggling to learn it.  Also just a touch of german and sign language experience - probably just enough to get me in trouble.  LOL  Most of the time, I struggle with my only english language! LOL

I don't study foreign languages, but I know how to speak English and Spanish.

I think French and Chinese would be nice to learn.

I took several years of German in high school and college but I have mostly forgotten it. I can't even remember some simple phrases. If I hear the words it sounds familiar though.
