That’s why I like Sherlock Holms over the new Lone Ranger.  The Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law there is enough of Sherlock Holmes in it to honor the books and fans of the old movies.  And there is enough new stuff for people who never read the books to enjoy as a brand new movie.  With Johnny Depp’s Lone Ranger there is almost nothing except the names of the characters and a vague plot to honor the old Lone Ranger.  I believe that’s why the Holmes movies made a hit and the Lone Ranger did not.

So I watched Frozen.  I have to say not only was I amazed at the computerized graphics of the cartoon, but glad to see it filled with music.  I haven’t seen a Disney cartoon filled with that many songs in a long time.  I’m kinda disappointed that they showcased Kristen Bell singing (she does Anya) rather than Idina Menzel (playing Elsa) who actually is a singer.  I also couldn’t believe they modeled it after Hans Christian Anderson’s the Snow Queen.  It’s nothing like the story at all.

I don’t get why every critic is calling 47 Ronin disastrous.  Ok there they are part of a league so if one gives a movie a bad write up they all have to but still.  Yes I accept the fact that it was supposed to be 2013’s biggest blockbuster and it wasn’t.  So there yes it was a failure.  But come on!  It cost $175 million to make.  It totally grossed $150mill.  That’s a loss of only $25 million.  To me that isn’t disastrous.  Hey Disney made a sequel of Brother Bear and the first one only brought in $80 million when it cost $100million to make.  And they fired the entire original brother bear staff on top of that.  Yet there is a Brother Bear 2.

Finally convinced myself to get the Harry Potter movies.  (Got two four pack movie set from Target).  They are a lot more fun than I thought they would be.  Honestly I didn’t think they would be which is why I didn’t see them when they first came out.

I’ve been tempted to get the Woman in black with Daniel Radcliffe.  I had watched it and Radcliffe does an excellent job in the movie.  I haven’t gotten it right off because I’ve been contemplating.  I mean it is not a happy ending in that SPOIILER ALERT he dies but the fact that he is united with his wife it is an ending I can live with.

Speaking of Harry Potter I usually like female heroines but Hermione Granger just annoys me.  I wanna the crap out her.  She comes across like a know it all rather than as a knowledgeable person.

Didn’t really get the ending on Prisoner of Azkaban. I mean Harry and Hermione go back in time and while they do save Buckbeak, enabling Buckbeak to carry Harry’s godfather Sirius Black, to be carried to safety they really didn’t achieve anything.  I mean yes they save Black from the Dementor's kiss, Black is still on the run because they never caught Peter Pettigrew who actually framed Black for Harry’s parents’ murder.  And Lupin, who knew what happened really can’t come forward because no one would believe him since he is a werewolf on top of which he had to ‘resign’ because of that.

Watching Pride of the Yankees with Gary Cooper.  Yes he does do a good job in it but I can understand why it didn’t win best picture (though it was nominated).  It’s Lou Gehrig’s speech.  Now the actual speech, and Gehrig’s mannerisms were filmed.  All Coop had to do was imitate it (which as great an actor as he was he would have had no problem doing).  Instead the director made him recite it as if he were reciting the Gettysburg address.  Then he walks off as if it were the crowd that gave him the disease.  And no tip of the ball cap.  That is wrong.  First off this is the last time you are going to be standing in uniform, in front of a crowd that has watched you play for fifteen consecutive years.  You are giving a speech that is basically a farewell to all those that had been faithfully loyal.  Walking away from a game you loved with every part of your soul.  And you’re not emotional about it?  The real Gehrig was.  Cried throughout the whole thing.  And as he walked off the field he tipped his cap to the audience.  No.  The movie might have honored Gehrig but the ending, the speech he gave was wrong.  For that it was NOT best picture of the year.

I don’t know how many times I’ve seen Back to the Future, I enjoy it every time I watch it.  Maybe I just like Michael J Fox that much.

Back to the Future II I think is just as good as the first one.  I love how they mixed it up so in the climax of the second he has to go back to the climax of the first movie.  It’s great how they incorporate the Marty of the second one into clips of the Marty from the first one.  I’m only a little disappointed that at the end of the second Doc leaves Marty stuck in the ‘50’s.  But of course they knew after doing the second that a third was in the works so they had to end it leaving room for the trilogy.

I have to say that out of the first four Harry Potter films, Goblet of Fire is definitely the movie where Daniel Raddcliffe begins to shine as an actor.

I have the whole collection of Dexter, and I loved each one of them.  I know it has ended but hoping they will create something similar to the show.

We`ve watch all Dexter seasons, its really good show. I already miss to see it again, I hope they will make some more in the future, because the way they left it, its kind of hanging.

Have the Nut Job, the latest cartoon by Open Road Films and features the voices of Will Arnett and Brendan Fraser.  While it did have some moments of fun I can’t say I laughed all the way through.  Still it did not fail to disappoint, mainly because of Brendan Fraser’s silly hero of the park character Grayson.  Having Liam Neeson as Raccoon, the villain of the picture was a nice touch.  Yet I couldn’t help but think it was really a rip off of Over the Hedge which did it better and funnier.
