Two Nights In The Dark
« on: October 31, 2012, 11:36:07 am »
I had spent two nights one day without electricity. No body at home like this experience, especially my two small children. we spent two nights without heat. Thank God we had hot water. we all shared one bed during these two nights because my children were afraid to sleep in their bedroom by themselves. I missed my reading my posts during those two unfortunate evenings.

YEAH,   you have power back on.  From the reports I have been hearing it may be days or even weeks before everyone has power again!  I am glad you and your family are all ok though.

Best to you i think it would be ok for some hours but longer would make people annoyed for sure. i would be mad cause i couldn't make coffee and they say use flash lights not candles.some one on tv with no power said their kids are learning to play cards it might bring folks together, hopefully so.

I agree that it is a not so good experience, but it brings something positive too, like potluck6 already mentioned, it gives the opportunity to put TV, electronics in general aside, and do some quality time together. Of course all that to the expense of some inconvenience like heating in cold weather. It will also be an inconvenience if your stove is electric and not gas. It gets somewhat spooky at night, but during the day, it gives you the chance to do some activities that will bring you guys closer.

The biggest advantage we had with this storm is advance warning. So we could shop for foods that are non perishable- I made a few things that would keep well.
I made sure that my kindle was fully charged. I also have my needle work.

My husband was bored within 1/2 hour of losing power. Thankfully we were without power for long.

It is hard to get around the area we live because of road closings. The Grocery Store across the street is open but I will be darned if I can fiqure out how to get there- the road in front is closed and the road in back!

I know all of this is very trivial compared to what the poor people at the Jersey Shore and Manhattan are going through.
