Just read that a 410 million bid has been accepted to purchase the rights to several Hostess products including Twinkies.  It is expected that the famous spongecake will be back on shelves by this Summer.  Sure there are alternatives, but this made my day a little better. :)

Now, I wonder... will they TASTE the same????  Time will tell, eh?

My grandmother who is 94 told me that the original twinkies had a banana cream filling.  I looked it up and sure enough banana's were rationed during WWII and thus Twinkie's flavor was switched to vanilla.  I for one think the banana flavor would be delicious.

Hostess filed for bankruptcy.  It stopped production last November so it hasn't been too long.

lol Walgreens has it's own brand of twinkies called Nice Sponge Cake! I don't know if it's any good and I'm sure it can't compare to the original but it might help with your cravings till summer :-)

I am happy for the twinkie fans out there, they really pulled through for their favorite yellow sponge cake.

I brought my first package of twinkies in 1969. I suppose I should eat them soon.
I was lying in bed the other night, looking up at the stars, and thinking, "Where in the heck is my roof?"

I never cared much for the regular Twinkie, but I like the Hostess product.

Since they were bought, you have to hope they will be better. Twinkies were starting to be lousy.

I was never big on Twinkies.  The Hostess cupcakes, ding dongs and pies on the other hand were a weakness of mine in my teens and 20's.  There is just something about that white swirl on the top of the chocolate frosted cupcake that made me crave... My mother made homemade treats all the time and I thought only the rich kids were able to eat hostess...so when I had them at friends homes or special events I thought I was being greedy.

The nostalgia factor makes me glad to see Twinkies are coming back, but they've never personally been my favorite. I'm very happy for everyone who loves them though.

I wonder if they will be making the other products too like Wonder Bread.  Glad to see Twinkies will be back.

I think that this news was anticipated as soon as Hostess went through with the bankruptcy.  I believe that the bankruptcy was nothing more than a ploy to bust up the union that was crippling corporate profits.  Some of the long timers were making absurd amounts of money and wouldn't take a cut in pay in order to see their livelihood stay afloat.  Let's see...the Union can keep my paycheck high and my benefits good...unless of course it is crippling the corporation in which case I lose my job and make nothing but two years of unemployment. I am betting that the people who have taken charge of the production will not be entertaining any talk about unions and have probably had these plans in place for several years.

I hardly eat items from Hostess ever since I started being more conscious of my health and thus watch what I eat, but I still like the idea that I still have the option to devulge in a twinkie one day again.
