@melman1 - My parents, who now live in a senior living facility because my mother has Alzheimers, have the landline at the apartment because my mom doesn't know how to "use" a cell phone.  When I say "use" I mean she doesn't like having something that she didn't have growing up (even though cell phones are 40 years old as of a few days ago, she only used one once in a blue moon).  My dad has a cell phone...a basic flip phone.  I've been trying to explain how an iPad would be a good step up from getting a smartphone but my dad doesn't want one (too new of technology for him to handle).

We have both. I love the convenience and versatility of my smartphone, but I also need the reliability of the landline. The good thing about a landline is that it never loses service(except maybe during a hurricane) and if you have an emergency the address is immediately visible to the 911 operator. I care for my 81 year old mother, and with her medical conditions, that reliability is very comforting.  :icon_rr:
I have ways of making money that you know nothing of.

My entire household switched to all cellphones and canceled our household phone, because it's much easier to pull your small cell phone out of your pocket and answer the phone than go to the house phone. And you can bring it everywhere. Most of the time when people call me, I'm not at home.  I guess it all depends on when and what you use your phone for. :dontknow:

I had a house phone and a cell phone and when I lost my job I cut the cell phone bill.  My husband has a cell phone from his job. Plus I don't like to be bothered when I am out and about or driving a car.

I like my cell phone more because I can multitask on it and I know no one can pick up on my line like on a house phone.

We did away with our home phone many, many years ago.  The only calls we received on it were the wrong numbers or telemarketers.  Haven't missed it at all.
Have a wonderful day!

My cell phone is my home phone and my traveling phone. Having both is redundant.

i prefer a house phone because i dont have to worry about people getting in touch with me. but i love a cell phone because i can take it on trips and places i cant take a home phone
i like both because you just never know with these cell phone companies the power could go out at any giving moment and u have no other contact, so i think u should have both just in case.
