going CAMPING yay!! SUGGESTIONS APPRECIATED
« on: April 11, 2013, 11:38:20 am »
Hello FC friends hope everyone is having an amazing day so far I have some awesome news. My Family and i are going to be spending an awesome weekend camping. I want to make this as comfortable as the great out doors will allow. Since I do suffer with Vertigo I am a little bit concerned but I don't want to miss out on the fun. Any tips to make our trip as comfortable as possible?

I don't know where you are going camping but I noticed here in Missouri, that the ticks are already out.  It might not be a problem where you are going, but take along your insect repellent and sun screen.  Also make sure you either take or have access to water.  I tend to get dehydrated when I spend time outdoors and that can make you feel really lousy.

Ugh ticks!! I am in southern California. We went last year late in the year it was realllllly hot. Which is why we decided to go early in the year this time. I will take insect repellent either way. Thanks I had not thought of that.

I am in SoCal.  If you get a chance, check out the Death Valley Wildflowers.  They should be blooming soon.  Tips - that depends on where you are going.  This weekend some areas may seen rain, so bring some tarp and light rain gear(Friday, I think).  Most areas will be cool or warm.  I would take sunscreen, obviously.

I am not sure what your idea of comfortable is, though.  My husband, daughter, and I always liked to rough it a bit.  Love camping.  :D

Plenty of firewood if you camp somewhere that has no issues with a good fire.   :bunny:

It is still too cold where  we live. Would be alright in the motor home, but we like to fish and the lakes are too cold yet to do any good. Hopefully next week it will be better, at least shore fishing would not want to take the boat out yet.

Camping is fun and I love it! We rough it - tents and sleeping bags.  We also make sure the kids have non-electronic gizmos - they need to enjoy their time in nature, so they roam around the campground, but not too far, as the place we went last time had bears!  EEK!  Anyway, make sure that if you are in a tent, DO NOT BRING FOOD OF ANY SORT IN THERE or else the smell will linger forever and bears will smell it and come along looking for food.  Store your food in your car, in a cooler (or bag, if no refrigeration is needed).  Do not bring too much food, or else you will be lugging it all home.  Plasticware (cups, plates, utensils) instead of anything breakable.  If I think of more (I'm suffering from a slight sinus infection at the moment), I'll come back and post.

Do not forget heavy-duty trash plastic bags...in case it starts raining. Place your valuables in the bags. Take rain gear and wear it, too.

We love camping but its to early in the year.  Most of the parks in the area are still closed.  In canada, had freezing rain today.  The winds would have taken the tent down I 'm sure.  With vitico I can't  imagin doing to much with out gravol with ginger.  I had the misforune of going through the dizziness for 5 weeks and unless I had gravol I was not able to enjoy our family activiy.  Good for you for not letting it stop you.
When camping we love to fishing and swimming.  We also go places the kids can play ball, and most important enjoy a camp fire.
Where ever you go enjoy.

I went when I was younger, It was so fun. I want to go again, the best thing I like about camping is fishing and staying in cabbins in the woods.
