I believe that there should be stronger background checks.  I can very well understand it if the person buying a gun  is trying to protect his family; selling a gun to a madman to maim and kill people makes you as guilty as if you were the gunman.  These days, you never know who wants to kill you.  The victims come in all ages, even the young, as evidenced in the Newtown, Connecticut murders. ???

Have you ever seen a collection of blades conficated from prisons where they are banned? I have. When knives are outlawed, only outlaws will have knives. NO THANK YOU!

this is all the outcome of fear, they build weapons out of fear,  what did the u.s secretly do to cause them to have fear, it is something they did that is why they fear others, they know it was going to come back to bite them.

Very simply-- There should be background checks. It is not taking away anyone's right by doing that. It's just about their and everyone else's safety, that's all.

The fear people have with background checks is that once that gets in place, it will be the basis for further expansion of 'gun control', such as compilation of datat of those that MIGHT own a firearm. The natural progression of any law is for that law to expand. This can be seen with practically every act or agency we have. EPA in its original intent was a great idea and very worthwhile, however it has now grown to the point that it can deny legal citizens of their right to own and use the property they possess. That is just one example of many that could be shown to illustrate the point.

Personally I favor background checks and the explansion there of, however, I think it is time we also put in place legal 'stops' or limits on just how far regulations can be expanded. We are no longer ruled by law, but by 'regulations' imposed by headstrong agencies which can pass a rule with NO REVIEW by anyone, and in effect that rule becomes de facto 'law', enforceable and all the rest.

Just a thought... ;D

Well said and I completely agree. However I assume this is wishful thinking as it's on par with...say...making a rule that if America wants to go to war, the political figures must send their sons and daughters to the frontline first. Ain't gonna happen.
