Ginafur Ball-who was abandoned at a gin-likes to steal change.  She will take coins and throw them in the trash, hide them in my shoes, or bury them in the covers.  She will carry them from upstairs to throw them away in the basement.  She'll take change from the kitchen to put in shoes in the bedroom.  She just doesn't hide it in the first place she comes to, she carries them around till she finds a place she likes.

Yeah, my cat is rascal to sometimes. He sometimes opens up cabinet doors with his paw and turns over trash cans in the house, trying to find something inside of them to play with.

We use to live in a house where I would leave a little water in the bathroom sink and my cat would drink from it.  We now live in a house where the water doesn't stay in the sink, but he sits on the counter looking at the sink - hoping water will appear.  It has been over a year now.  I can't believe his memory like that  ???

@Nannycoe1:  We often say that our boy is the color of smoke.  He blends into shadows.   :cat:

I've also got one that looks like that. His name is Ratatouille named after the rat in the movie. My friend (that owns 3 cats) originally had him. Since she loves to cook and works in a liquor store, she tries to name her cats after a food. So since ratatouille is a food as well as a gray, furry character in a movie, she decided to go with that. She was also considering Smoky G (as in Smoked Gouda) but after hearing from some other friends, decided to go with the former. And actually after seeing his personality, I think Ratatouille works best... When I think of "Smoky G" I think of some blues / jazz musician, just acting mellow and laid back. But my cat is always curious and tends to get into trouble because of that, just like Ratatouille from the movie.

The first time I heard him chatter, I first thought that there was a raccoon or squirrel in the house; I never knew cats did that! Then I found him crouching on the kitchen table, tail whipping back and forth, staring avidly out the sliding glass door to the hillside in back where several birds were pecking away in the grass. Now I know that when I hear him do that, he's hunting. It's interesting that cats do that as a signal that they're hunting, esp. since most of their hunting tactics relies on stealth, sneaking up on their prey and then pouncing. You'd think that the chattering would be counterproductive...

Now, what you need to do is sit down and watch a documentary on wild cats, like lions, cheetahs, and tigers.  Some of the big cats make noises very similar to the chatter when they hunt.  Disney has a great documentary about big cats of Africa.

Most of my cats get named after characters in books, gods or goddesses, or after something weird.  We once adopted a kitten that some people had outside of a grocery store.  A family had a bunch of kittens in  a big box and were trying to adopt them out.  We took one home and named him Box!

The kitten I will be getting is named Verschrankung.  We call her Vera or Weevie for short.  My daughter's cat had kittens.  This is interesting, though.  Her cat is the grand-daughter of a cat I had that passed away just over a year ago.  His name was Bigwig.  Her cat looks a lot like Bigwig did.  The kitten I am taking also looks a lot like Bigwig.  (They are a Turkish Angora Mix.)

Bigwig was the great-grand nephew of my cat Osiris.  (Osiris is an old cat and he is still alive.  But I think he may be in his final years. )  This makes Vera the great-great-great grand niece of Osiris.

I remember my late grandmother came home with a white kitten we named Lucky.  The neighbor had a dog that would chase him up the tree.  I had to coax Lucky out of the tree for months.  I looked out the window one day to see the dog asleep and Lucky sneak up on the dog.  When he got close enough, Lucky took his front feet and slapped the dog on the nose.  He shot through the bushes.  I could not help but laugh because the dog woke up barking as if it had no idea what hit him. ;D
