Is there a "Dollar" store in your State?
« on: May 31, 2013, 09:03:40 am »
I ask this question cuz recently, I ask my cousin from NY, why she & her family comes down to FLa each chance she gets. I thought it was to visit my Uncle & Aunt cuz Uncle works at the hospital here. Well, a year or 2 ago, Mom introduced them to our Dollar store & they went wild! They were amazed that the products were up to date cuz they go to remainder stores in which a lot of the food products are old & out dated. I'm thinking is this legal? I guess Fla, is one of the poorer states & thus need dollar stores for us to survive. As for my Aunt & cousin now, I understand why they went wild when I gave them a dollar store gift card; me it was just the  dollar store but  to them it was like finding treasure!

I have two $1 trees where I live and 99 cents stores in near by cities.  But some of the products at $1/.99 store you can buy cheaper at discount retail stores wallmart or tarrget.

I'm in Texas and we seem to practically have some sort of dollar store ever few miles.  We have Dollar General, Just A Dollar, Family Dollar, Dollar Tree and duplicates on the Dollar Gen and Family Dollar and our population is little less than 25 thousand.  Think it might be overkill?  lol

Due to today's economy, more and more folks are 'discovering' these retail treasures! And the stigma of shopping there is all but gone now I think. I have never understood why anyone would look down on those that shop wisely, yet a lot of banks/credit card issuers raise a 'red flag' if their cards are seen to be more active at these stores rather than Saks or other high-end (overpriced) retailers.

We have Dollar General, Fred's SuperDollar, Family Dollar and Dollar Tree here in our state of Mississippi.  They closed the Dollar Tree here in West Point, so we have the other 3 to choose from.  My husband shops at Dollar General, while I prefer Family Dollar and Fred's SuperDollar.

We have a Family Dollar store here in my small town. I love it, I save so much more money by watching the sales on cat supplies, laundry detergent and paper goods. It really helps to check out the sales flyers. Every thing in my small town is so much more expensive than to drive 100+ miles to a larger city. Every penny helps, doesn't it!

We have several around this area. Used to shop there for snacks, but stopped since I can get the items from drug stores with lower prices when using coupon and weekly deals.

Yep, we also have Dollar General, Family Dollar, and Dollar Tree.  We used to have the 99 Center, but it went out of business.  That was a good store and I miss it, but now I will say my fave is the Dollar Tree.

I live in Florida too, and the Dollar type stores are everywhere.  One of the ones near me expanded to include more frozen foods, and they're always really busy now.
