I think it will help weed out the ones who are abusing the system but I feel terrible for the ones that truly need it. I know a lady who is old retired and is disabled.  she says that she only got 30 dollars this month. with her being on a really strict budget she has only eaten one meal a day for quite a while well plus a small snack she says she just will eat one meal a day  and just half  of that and save the other half for tomorrow.  she doesn't have any family to help her out.

Like most things, it's the ones that abuse the system that makes it harder on those who really need it.  I personally know people who are able to work but have it too good by getting government handouts to go to work.  It's not "profitable" to them.
Have a wonderful day!

I feel the same as you, I feel bad for those that need it.  I heard there was another cut coming.

I have to agree with everyone.  There are the many who abuse the system and hurt it for the ones who really need it.  My heart goes out to the elderly who only live on social security.  After they pay their Medicare and supplemental insurance, most times there isn't a lot left.  Most elderly need meds, and the cost of prescriptions can be high.  I know a lot of seniors who only take half their meds and eat once a day because they can't afford more.  With bills like food and heating there's not a lot left.  The only thing these people did wrong was get old.  I can't believe this country with all it's money can't help seniors out better.

Food Stamps for those in need,,,  ( really needy)  is great.  But then you get those people who abuse the system and makes its bad for the other families. We were at the store awhile back and standing in line to check out .  Couple with 4 kids in front of us with 2-carts of food,,,  or should i say   "Junk Food".  I never seen any meat or vegetables or milk.  All we seen was chips, cookies, candy,  soda, all junk in them carts.

Then we noticed that : the Dad had an IPhone,,,,,   The Mom had an I Phone,,,,,,  and the 2-oldest Kids had IPhones !!!!!!!!!!!!

Please tell me what was wrong with that Picture ?????    Am I wrong to think something was wrong with that Picture ????

I can't afford an IPhone,,,,,,,  and I qualify to get food stamps if I would do it.  ( I lost my job because they closed the store I worked at ) I'm on unemployment right
now.  It really erks me to see people like this abusing the food stamp program  :(

OK I have griped enough  LOL

I don't know much about it but I think in general a lot of people live beyond their means.  You have to really look at what's a want and what's a need and plan your expenses accordingly.  I agree the ones who abuse the system must be punished hopefully not at the expense of those who really need the assistance. I hope those who really need the assistance can find a way to make it work and not suffer too much.

I'm sure the Tea Party types who were gung-ho for this reduction never missed a meal in their lives.

don't know where you live but maybe she could go to a food bank or meals on wheels.Churches might come through more with donations. I can't believe the price of food lately some things you need like a gallon of milk is 4.00 or more in some stores. My son works at mcdonalds and a gal who works there with 3kids gets food stamps  she doesn't make enough don't know about the father of the kids.

You know the history of the foodstamp programs have been filled with graft and corruption from the first days and I honestly feel that the program should be taken away from the government and turned over to the local churchs and food banks.  There is just something wrong when an able bodied male is selling a state food stamp card on craigs list.

The food stamp program is so filled with abuse and corruption that it can well do with some reduction in funding. MAYBE they will start actually monitoring the abuses to eliminate the bad guys and properly support those that are truly deserving of the help. I know locally that there is no excuse for anyone going hungry regardless of the state of the food stamp program. There are food banks and other non-government resources for those that need it.
