My spending vs savings is pretty consistent year round.  I plan ahead for the spending bumps like holiday times or when I plan a vacation.  For those  I have a separate "savings" accounting method so I know I can cover those expenses.

I learned years ago to inventory how much it costs to live with my basics and the few "luxuries" I like to have (like cable and a higher tier internet connection).  Then allotted myself a monthly "mad money" allowance for things like eating out or going to a movie or picking up something I wanted.

Everything beyond that goes into savings.  That way, over the years, when I was fortunate to get a rare pay raise, my savings would naturally increase.

I live within my income and save something every month. I follow the Dave Ramsey plan of living debt-free.  I'm not going to pay interest to a bank to use their money when they pay less than 1% on my savings account.

I've heard of Dave Ramsey before but have yet to look into his teachings.  What is the basis of his debt free living plan?

I would love to be able to save, but it takes all I make to be able to live.  That is why I do my surveys.  A little check now and then really helps.

I agree; it certainly does all help

I try to save all year long.  But this year I had to buy me a new car.  I have been make 2 payment a month.  I hope to get it paid off before my 6 years is up.  I would like to retire again.  I am 72 years old and getting tired of working.  My legs and feet are giving out on me.  Hope everyone one has a good day and may God bless each of you and keep you safe.

I also now consider cable a luxury and am about to disconnect my Comcast television service and join Netflix.

:) I quit spending more than I take in years ago. You can't imagine the feeling of being totally debt free. It is a wonderful way to live. In answer to your question, no.
I can't imagine ever being debt free! I am so old now I decided not to worry about bills all the time, I do the best I can and when I am gone it won't matter anyway.

I try to watch every penny I spend all year round. It is harder to do that around Christmas time, because
my heart goes out to the ones I love. I am very thankful for Fusion Cash this year!

I try to put back money each month for emergencies/future needs.  You never know when something will need major repair or a vital appliance bites the dust.
