The tv networks want to get more money and I guess they have plenty of companies that want to pay money to advertise.  These companies should spend more money adverstising on sites like Fusion Cash.

Some shows are really bad about having a lot of commercials.  I really hate it when they keep showing the same commercial over and over during a show.  Arby's commercials are really bad about that.  They will air two and three times right after each other!  I don't patronize the local Arby's restaurants because of the bad reputations of the owners.
Have a wonderful day!

Even the commercial time on sites like Hulu is getting pretty bad. And I loathe all the stupid Geico commercials!

I agree that there are way too many commercials on TV these days. Most of us pay to watch TV through cable or satelite services and then have to tolerate all the commercials that support the networks. Go figure!

I noticed this too.I especially notice an increase in ads running  a lot around the holidays because they want people to shop more and spend money

Do you realize the current hour TV show only runs about 42 minutes without commercials?20 years ago,an hour program ran around 50 minutes! Before you know it,an hour program will only contain a half hour of content!
Well, you know that ads pay for the shows. That is the sad part. It costs so much to broadcast. You know how much the Super Bowl spots oost! I don't know how consumers can make a difference. We already ay for our services with Cable or Satellite companies because it is more dependable.I think we should not have to pay for TV like the OOLLDD DDAAYYS!

I don't mind watching them as long as it is not the same one over and over again every time I am watching sports. You are so right, I think the commercials now are like taking over the TV programs industries. I wish there is a fast forward remote control for TV viewing that you can just get rid of them.

We tape everything, then we can just fast forward through the commercials.  Saves a lot of time and aggravation.  However, ads are good for running to the restroom or getting a drink!   LOL

Since the mid-90's I've been burning a couple episodes of each new TV show on network and popular cable stations for a trivia contest I participate in.  This year, when editing down the shows the networks did make another cut into the shows.  On average, new "hour" shows were clocking at an all time low of 40 minutes.  New sitcoms were clocking in at 19 minutes 30 seconds (just under 20 minutes).  For the sitcom, that 19:30 included the bloopers played at the end of the new Robin Williams show (The Crazy Ones).

When editing down the commercials, I was finding 5-6 minute commercial blocks airing in some shows.  I couldn't believe that!

For the past 4-5 years they've been holding steady around 43 minutes (hour) and 22 minutes (sitcom).

Returning shows are still at the "old" length, but the new ones are definitely shorter.

I've been watching DVD and Netflix of 80's and 90's shows - back then the hour shows were 46-49 minutes of actual show.  Seems like an eternity compared with today's times.
