Probably...but not worth a fortune like some would be inclined to spend on it....

I never understood pre-school.  I never went and I never sent my kids, either.  A child used to learn their socialization skills in Kindergarten, so what the point of pre-school is I just don't get.  Another way for somebody else to make money?

I think it depends on the home environment, If you have an only child that doesn't have the opportunity to interact with other children, like daycare etc, then it'd be beneficial for building social skills

I went to pre-school (Headstart where I live) and a lot of children do (or did) where I lived. A lot of "experts" say that preschool doesn't make a difference whereas other experts say that it makes a profound difference.

Personally, I think it's a matter of choice. If you work with your child at home in terms of learning basic counting, colors, etc... and they interact with other children, then I don't see how preschool would be that much better than what you can do at home with your child.

For me its not very important because I can teach and watch my kids but for those who are
have no choice because they have to run to work every single day yeah, it is important to them.
They have no time to teach their own so let other certified teacher teacher them.
It is worth for some but not for others.
But main thing is for the child.   :highfive:

My grandson is an only child, and preschool was wonderful for him.  There were no kids close by for him to play with, and he learned socialization there.  He is an outgoing child and loves to be around other children.  I think preschool also gives a child a taste of being in school without suddenly being place in regular school, five days a week and more hours a day.

In this day and age, preschool is a good thing.  It teaches children to be away from their parents for a short time, how to socialize with other children, how to obey someone other than a parent and how to interact in a school setting.  I know it's hard to send your "baby" to school, but, the child will benefit from preschool.

I think that a preschool that focuses on children learning from play can offer a child a huge advantage over children that do not receive that kind of education.

I did not go to preschool when I was young..but I had a mother who taught me at home. By the time I got to kindergarden I could read on a 3rd grade level, knew colors, numbers and how to tell time, simple math etc. I was years ahead of all the other kids. I remember all of the things that were taught in kindergarden at the time....but now when the kids get to kindergarden, the teachers expect the kids to already know all of the things that used to be taught in kindergarden. Kindergarden used to be the "preschool" learning before moving on. Some kids that aren't in preschool, and don't have a mother that teaches and works with her children at home are usually behind when they start kindergarden. They have to learn the things that the other kids learned in preschool. If you have time to work with your children at home, you can teach them a lot, and could possibly excel them enough that they will be ahead of the other children as my mom did with me.

Preschool isn't very important. Most moms send their kids to preschool so they can work. If you can stay at home with your kids you should. Anything you learn in preschool, you can learn at home too.

I think that it all depends on what pre-school and where you plan on taking your children after pre-school. We chose a Montessori preschool that cost us a pretty penny and knew that the kids were going to an elementary school that was ranked number one in the state and twelfth in the country. My daughter is now number two in her High school class and taking nothing but college credit courses-which are considerably less than actually paying for college at the college level. I believe she should be able to skip a year and a half of college and have a scholarship for the rest. My son is doing well and still loves to learn...has his heart set on flight school.
