Has Aspertane that is a sub for sugar every bother you?
« on: January 06, 2015, 09:07:39 pm »
It has bother me and makes me want to sleep all the time and nearly killed me. So I stay away from Coke Cola all of theirs including Coke Zero and Regular Coke. I read all labels now to ensure my good health. I am in my sixties but feel like I am in my forties.

I stay away from all of that, first I don't like it and then it is not good for you. I have not had a soda since I was 15 and I am now 71. I just don't like the taste. I do not drink sugar in my tea or coffee wither. Yuck.

It doesn't bother me because I will avoid it just like I will refined sugar.  There are natural sweeteners out there that are actually good for us.  I don't miss out on anything.

I don't avoid it but nor do I seek it out. The substitutes just don't seem to sweeten the same way, or leave a weird aftertaste. So I just lower my regular sugar consumption instead.
But I don't think it's harmful or anything. Or I certainly never noticed any effects back when I tried the stuff more seriously as a diet thing.
Of course, I don't normally drink sodas, whether regular or diet. Maybe it's something else in the drink that made you feel sleepy?
Regardless, congrats on feeling younger :D

Aspartame is a chemical and some people have a negative reaction to it.  It may be as severe as an allergic reaction or it could have a subtle impact on health.  The bottom line is that too much could cause certain people to have their immune system react as if it was a foreign substance....

because it is.
Have a great day!

Well Aspartame is actually Equal, not Splenda. As a matter of fact, Splenda is used in most diet sodas. And Splenda is actually sugar. All they did as change the molecular structure of the sugar. I prefer Equal.

I used to use the aspartame products, but never had any negative effects from it.  After reading all the bad stuff about it, I went to a different sweetener.

We stay away from all the artificial sweeteners not god for you.   We used Splenda one time and it molded in the container  just over night so we never used it again.

I haven't used aspartame (Equal) in a while (usually I use stevia (Truvia) if available or sucralose (Spleda)). However I have a friend that has a severe allergy to aspartame as well as some other sweeteners, so only consumes products with sucrose (table sugar).

Wow, I am really interested to read all of your comments. I had no idea that Asperthame caused reactions in some people, particularly allergic reactions. I have known for some time that Coke products contain this ingredient but tolerated it because it didn't leave a nasty aftertaste in my mouth. Now Sucralose for instance, tastes nasty and I can't even tolerate it. I have never tried Truvia but am intrigued to consider this option further.

Yes, I stay away from aspartame and ALL other artificial sweeteners...

1. THE ARE DISGUSTING!
2. They're dangerous.

I had heard that people that drink diet sodas on a regular basis have "pickled various organs" and the embalmers don't have to use as much embalming fluid on those people but I don't really know how true that is.

Aspartame is in alot of chewing gum....I was surprised to discover that.

I hate it.  I hate the after taste.   I hate all artificial sweeteners.  I avoid any food and drinks that have it.

I avoid aspertame, and all other sugar substitutes, like the plague.  I have fibromyalgia and it makes me flare up, plus it tastes like garbage.
