For a quick energy boost, I think of something like a breakfast / granola / protein bar or shake.  I periodically have this when I'm in a rush, but need something in my system. If I have more time, I will spend a little more time for my bacon/sausage, eggs and toast or something more.

We have laying hens so we eat farm fresh eggs almost every day. Packed with protein it fills a person up and gives them energy for a good portion of the day.  Nothing like home raised food in a good environment to meet nutritional needs!

We rotate between bran muffins (usually with blueberries thrown in the batter) bagel & cream cheese with fruit and nuts or oatmeal with banana and walnuts and then on Sunday splurge and have pancakes and bacon.

I just started eating oatmeal and it is ok, but I am on a calorie counting kick, so I will try it in the morning.

I got a coupon for a free box of Belvita Biscuits. I had never had them before and they were pretty good. They are supposed to give you energy b/c of all the healthy ingredients.

I hear oatmeal is good for filling you up and helping you stay fuller through the day but I've never experienced it giving/sustaining energy. I have heard that apples provide better and healthier energy than coffee in the morning. Also bananas are supposed to be good for boosting energy. If I have the opportunity, I really enjoy having some fresh fruit for breakfast, or at anytime during the day. Nuts are supposed to be good for energy too I think, but you don't want to eat too much of them because they're high in fat so you don't want to overdue it.
