I think it's gonna do both.

I think minimum wage should be a livable wage for a single person. Minimum wage isn't designed to support a family of six. That's just unrealistic. It should, however, support a single person living in that community.

Just my take on it.

The whole thing is an unfortunate vicious circle - but then company owners will use any excuse to raise prices so it doesn't matter.  It is impossible to live on minimum wage even increased minimum wage but you just have to do the best you can with what you have to work with and try to budget.  Also it means usually that you have to live with someone or have room mates.

If minimum wage had kept up with inflation, it would be around 23 dollars an hour now.
Instead of raising wages, companies have paid their CEOs and owners billion dollar salaries.
If they don't want to pay the people who are making money for them, maybe the CEOs and owners should do the work themselves.

Minimum wage first became law in 1938 the minimum wage was $0.25/hour. Adjusted for inflation, that would be $4.16 in 2015.

I think it is a good idea to raise the minimum wage because it is hard to support a family on such a small amount of money.

There are better solutions to that problem, such as get a better job or side income.

Yes, I think the minimum wage should be raised. People who work hard shouldn't have to practically starve on the wages they receive or have a hard time paying their rent. People say it will raise prices and reduce the number of jobs available, but that remains to be seen.

It should be increased.  Most of the increased costs we have seen the past few years have been because of oil prices.  High oil prices causes everything else to go up.
Have a wonderful day!

It doesn't remain to be seen at all, it has happened over and over since 1938. How many times do we need to see it? It's a simple matter that you need to fill the glass before you can pour out more water.

Minimum wage is for low class jobs. If we raise that then all other things will be raised.  It is not the wage we need to raise it is the reframe from hiring of illegal immigrants that we need to stop. I work in the low class industry and I swear if I hear another person speak only Spanish I am going to scream. Every where I go not just my job.

No, you live within your means.  I have lived alone and lived on min wage.  Yes you struggle but you don't go out to the movies, you don't go out and eat, you don't eat steak at home, you turn off the cable, you turn off the internet, you LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS.  You live on the money YOU make.  You can't expect to make min wage and live like you have a lawyer's salary.

Yes room mates would help but that is assuming they actually put in their share.

lol.  You are not suppose to support a family on min wage.  And if you can't feed 'em - don't breed 'em.  I am so tired of these people who have a brood of kids wanting people to feel sorry for them and provide for their kids.  I know a man who has 4 kids and cries about how much raising 4 kids costs.  He needs to get fixed so he doesn't have any more.  Should have got fixed 2 kids ago.  Don't cry to me because your food bill is high.

It's not that easy.  If it were then all the people making min wage would just go "get a better job"  or  "side income".   Maybe that is why so many people get into selling drugs.  I can see this both ways.  But over all I can see that raising min wage to $10 or more an hour will just cause problems.

lol.  I know.  I hate when some idiot comes in and yaps spanish to me and when I don't know what they are saying they just stand there and repeat what they just said like I will magically understand it the second time.  Smh.  I don't even make any effort most of the time.  If someone is really nice and they are trying to speak English then I will make more effort to understand or communicate. If I went to Mexico I would be expected to learn their language.
