What Do You Think Of the Pastor Or Priest Of Your Church?
« on: February 13, 2017, 05:35:07 pm »
I am a christian, but I haven't been to a physical Church in a number of years.  The reason:  The Pastor of my former church felt that he should tell the congregation how much he pays for his clothes, how often he buys a new car and boots to match his suits.  If he and one of the congregants disagreed about an issue concerning the church, he felt that the whole church should know.  I disagree with him talking about something that is suppose to be confidential between that person. I found that I could no longer attend that church because there were people there who could not feed their families.  The Pastor is suppose to be a leader, yet he is the devil in disguise.  SMH

We have a wonderful God-fearing pastor.  He is very knowledgeable about the Bible.  An excellent teacher and preacher.  But we did have one before he was hired that we had to fire because he had a bad temper when things didn't go his way which is no way to act in church much less as the leader of the church!
Have a wonderful day!

I haven't been to church since I was a child. My parents left the church long ago for various reasons I can't recall. I am no longer a "religious" person but I do believe in God...I used to watch a preacher on tv, Frederick Price and he would brag about his Rose Royce and chastise his congregation by insinuating that the reason they don't have the things he has, is because they aren't good enough Christians (and that their faith isn't as strong as his). When the reason he has all of those things in the first place is because of his congregation! They very people he's downing, but they continue to tithe anyway. That was his so-called way of motivating people. Which is quite cruel and ignorant.

Right now my church does not have a regular pastor.  Our pastor left in December to go to another church in another town.

If I did not like the Pastor at the church I would not attend the church.

I would not stay at a church with a pastor so into material things and petty, gossippy.

If they claim to be Christian and follow the bible, their sin is so in your face.

Why aren't members confronting him?

I have left churches over my life, hesitated to go back ever (for valid reasonson), but finally found a small church with a humble pastor who loves the Lord.

I will happily stay here as long as it stays the same.

We have a great pastor...very devote and knows the Bible. Worshipping with other like-minded people is good for the soul.

Those of you who claims to be a Christian but don't go to church is fooling yourself, the bible state when two or more gather to gather God will be there.  Don't look at the Pastor as a God or something, read your bible for yourself go to church to be with others that think like you about God.  The church is just a building, you can worship God anywhere.  The Pastor is (or suppose to be called by God), but we all know some or called and the others or well..... you know.  Read for yourself to show yourself approved.

The problem with preachers is that they are still human; just like we are. They sin; just like we do. :monkey: We should try to not judge them unfairly.

If your pastor preaches the gospel, then he should be respected.

If he puts material things above spiritual, then you probably better find another church. I'm sure that detracts from your worship.

I sincerely believe that things such as what you mentioned have deterred a lot of people from church.  Too bad for everyone involved. :-[ I'm so sorry.

I know that this isn't universally true for everyone, but we have been very lucky at our church.  We had a priest who was assigned there not long after I became a member.  He was there for 12 years.  He officiated at my wedding and baptized my daughter and my wife and I became very close to him.  He retired in 2012.  With three Catholic churches in our town, but fewer priests available, the bishop decided to allow our three parishes to remain distinct and keep our three identities, but we now share a primary pastor and two associates who minister to all three parishes. It was difficult seeing our former priest go, knowing that we would be sharing the new one; but he has been a joy in his own way and a blessing to our community.  Our two associates are younger, but also very pleasant and wise even in their youth.

Wouldnt it be wise to let Jesus answer who his true followers are?He did say in the last days many wolves would arise and be alert. He said true worship is serving God with spirit and truth and his followers would have love among themselves.

His illustration of sowing fine seed is a good example. It produces good fruit.Sowing bad seed produces rotten fruit. If your heart is in right place this is recognizable.
