Unfortunately the loss of personal items will haunt him for years. But I am sure that he had home owner's insurance and will get a brand new house for his troubles. The homeowner's insurance company should put him up in a nice rental until his house is ready to move in. My jeep is worth four times what I paid for it if it get totaled or stolen. I was honest and told the insurance company what I paid for it and they said I got a great deal and that it was worth what they were insuring it for. And, on top of it, I only pay ten dollars a month for comprehensive, collision and liability with no deductibles. One step further: I have had speeding tickets within the last four years and totaled a car six years ago. It pays to go to good insurance companies.

Oh, no!!!  :o That's one of my worst nightmares. We go to extra lengths around here to make sure burners are off, things are unplugged, etc. We have a fire extinguisher upstairs and one downstairs. There was a fire a house down from us years ago (we live in a townhouse) and we had to be evacuated, us and our dog and cat. It was so frightening. I can't imagine being the one whose house gets set on fire! I hope he didn't have any animals in the home that were hurt or killed! God bless.

That's kind of strange, he finally pays off the house & then it burns down. Hope he has home insurance.

I had a house fire long ago, and they really are hard on a person! I lost so much and had stuff that was burnt but could be saved, like pictures !!   Hope they didn't have pets at home!

What a shame but glad his is alright.  The worse has to be not being able to replace things that hold a sentimental value to a person.

Sometimes it seems that life is so hard.  I will pray that he will have many blessings come his way and that he will be able to restore his house and fix it up even better than ever.

Maybe I am misunderstanding - but he was posting on facebook WHILE his house was burning down?  If he had insurance then he will get money to rebuild.  Stuff can be replaced.  People cannot.

What YOU pay for something is irrelevant.  I did not tell my insurance company what I paid for my vehicle nor my house.  It is none of their business.  It is insured and they have to pay me the current market value.  My house - they have to pay what it cost to rebuild at that time and to replace the contents of my house.  My car - the value will be determined by KBB or something similar.  As for "being good" to them --- they don't give a rat's behind about you.  All they want is your money and they will do all they can to not pay you and to pay you as little as possible if you file a claim.

Hello! :) :D

Wow a fire, I'm happy he wasn't in the house when the fire happened. Nonetheless it is sad he lost his house and other personal belongings. I hope everything turns out okay for him. :rose: :angel11:

Best wishes,

Why would you take a picture of your house on fire?  I have never understood people's desire to take pictures of stuff like that and then put it on Facebook.  And he should have had insurance.  Stuff can be replaced.  People can't.
