What are you thoughts on being politically correct?  Should schools teach it to the students?

I feel like everything this is a nuanced issue. While I believe that learning pretty much anything isn't bad. I don't really believe in too much knowledge. However, for this issue, I feel the "why is pc language used" (and the history behind it) is a more important question than "should we use it." So basically yes it should be taught, but not the "you have to say things like this" but rather "this is why we say things like this"

I refuse to be politically correct in public, at my college, and in the comfort of my own home. I don't think schools should teach political correctness and unless its college it should still be taboo in school.

I believe it should be taught with its history. It should also be noted that being PC isn't everything: words are important, but actions and global issues are more important

Political Correctness has gone way overboard in my opinion.  People need to toughen up rather than be all touchy, feely politically correct.

political correctness is a bunch of junk. there is no such thing as being politically correct. everyone has different views should be able to express them. someone is always going to be offended about something.

I have a feeling that the people that are so against it have a similar demographic

Everyone has to a right to their own views no matter how bigoted they may be but that doesn't meal that they should be comfortable openly stating them without regard to others feelings

Sorry, but I no longer believe in such a thing. All I have heard about political orientations are arguments. It just seems as if people randomly select democracy, republicanism, etc. and stick to it nevertheless. There are no realistic political heroes or heroines that run for governor or president anymore. I think I'm the only one in my time zone (Central) who has wised up!

Just a bunch of foolishness.  Just like all the words you are not suppose to use today because it might hurt some snowflakes feelings.  Well deal with it.  I am not talking about saying bad stuff but words that mean what they do and some idiot decided that didn't sound good so we can't say it. For example re-ta-r-d-ed it is not a bad word.  Don't like it - find a way to deal with it.  It simply describes a person with mental disabilities.  It is what the word means.  There are several others but I cannot think of them at the moment.  I actually saw on the news where one school bad a list of banned words because they might hurt somebody's feelings.  I can tell you this - if you can't go to school and hear a certain word or see it in a book without getting your feelings hurt then you are not going to make it in this world.  Of course in today's society most people don't.  They go to school and stay in a "safe room" and color all day then when they get out of school they draw a check off the government.

Political Correctness is a direct attack against free speech. There's nothing in the Constitution or Declaration of Independence that says "Thou shalt not be Offended." It has turned America into a hodgepodge collection of whimps and crybaby snowflakes, not a united country. everybody's going to be offended about something, and kids in school should be taught to toughen up and accept that fact, instead of finding "safe spaces" to sulk in.
