How often do you buy fresh food and forget to eat it ?
« on: March 02, 2018, 04:56:21 am »
I hate to do it esp with fruit because it's a waste and the wild animals around here don't go crazy for it.If meat goes bad at least I know it gets eaten by coons, skunks and possums,I can cut the bad parts from bread for the birds but fruit is a total loss.

Sometimes that happens when the schedule changes and so does the meal plan

Why I love bottled lemon juice and water( they don't spoil/rot if I don't consume them fast)

It happens sometimes when it gets pushed to the back of the fridge and "gets lost"  :turkey:

I generally try to buy small amounts so it doesn't go bad

More often than I care to admit. I try to bring fruit to work with me every day. Just one serving, but I figure it's better than nothing. I typically make myself a moderately unhealthy salad (lol) while I'm waiting for my dinner to heat up or cook. I like salads with cheese, bacon bits, croutons, and ranch dressing. Yum!! I use a large portion of the lettuce I buy at the grocery store but I'd be lying if I said none of it went to waste.

Like someone else said, I buy smaller amounts so it doesn't go bad.  Since we've retired I tend to not buy fresh veggies until the day I'm going to use them.   I just hate to waste food.  I will admit to at times leftovers go bad but it's unusual for fresh food to go bad in our house.

It happens a lot here. We put it in the crisper and forget it.

I am retired and live alone.

I have wasted food before, being used to buying bigger amounts when I was helping take care of 4 grandkids.

I had to leave myself a note to use up the apples or whatever.

Now, I am in the habit of carefully planning. Sometimes, I still make a note, if oranges or such are in the bottom of the fridge, but I try to be smart and frugal.

I only buy what I will eat in a 2 days time.  I do't like wasting food it is expensive.  Plus we live with in 5 minutes from our grocery

I rarely let any  fruit or veggies go to waste like someone else I don't but a large amount at one time. I would love to when we go to Sam's or Walmart but since  we live so far away from them it would go bad, so I buy from them about a weeks worth and we eat it right away or I cook it. Then go to our rip  off grocery store more fresh foods,  And I buy in limited amounts when I would love to have it all the time.

I used to do that, but hardly ever anymore. I try conscientiously to use up food before it goes bad.

It's a shame to let good food go to waste.
