GO!

There are tons of options.  Best bet is to google.  I know Amazon Fire Stick and Roku are both available. But you still have to pay for a package like cable and you do not get the local stations.  And you have to have internet and it has to be working.  And it will need to be fast enough to stream tv.  I have heard of the Kodi thing but from what I see on that it can't be legal.  I have been told you can get new movies that are playing at the theaters and watch them for free. That doesn't seem right.

I looked into the Roku strictly because of being able to stream vudu movies. But to watch tv I still would have to pay $30 or more a month and not have local channels

The outdoor antennas the old fashioned ones pick up quite a few channels but it depends on where you live. The ones that plug in to the back of your tv or just lay on top of the tv are about worthless.  Kind of the same as rabbit ears.

Actually there are so many, it just depends on the price.  You have sticks now such as the ones from Amazon then there are subscriptions such as Netflix and Hulu.  Then there is the digital box when they changed the tv waves to digital making an antenna obsolete.

Antennas are NOT obsolete.  I have one.  And I get about 25-30 channels.  The digital box was to convert OLD TVs. The old tvs did not receive the digital signal and the converter box allowed them to receive the signal. Now all the tvs are digital.  ALL stations are required to broadcast a digital signal and not just analog.

Cable has truly turned into a joke that I don't find the least bit funny.  My hubby and I have been turning to Amazon Prime.  We actually have a cable antenna around here somewhere that we need to hook up.  I also personally like YouTube.

Before we had cable, which I guess we could abbreviate bc, we had Dish.  I liked Dish.  We also like Ruku.

Most entertainment today is a joke.  I like the older shows.  The ones that were actually funny, clean, and good to watch.

I have thought about getting the Roku.  But from what I understand I still have to pay every month for a package to stream tv.  I keep hearing there are tons of free things to watch but I don't know what.  I guess stuff on youtube? I read something about Roku having free stuff on their channel.  Not sure.

Same, we dumped cable and found there are actually more channels on our antenna than we ever watched on cable. Lots of retro channels are popping up in recent years anyway which is what I like. Besides that, Netflix and Hulu are pretty good. Wish their selections were a little better but oh well.

I dumped cable last fall. $40 increase over 2 years. I have Netflix ($12 a month) and DirecTV Now for $11 a month. The streaming isn't always the greatest, but for the $60 I'm saving a month, I can deal with it.

I'm looking for an alternative to Dish, but I haven't decided what I want yet. But I'm getting tired of paying so much money for garbage.

GO!

Hello! :D :)

As I don't really have time to watch TV I prefer streaming movies and shows online. My favorites are Hulu and Netflix as they both are less than $20. :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:   :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:

I have netflix, hulu, and the free apps that are available to use on the firestick. I would rather watch an app on a firestick because it is digital and more clear than the channels half of the time :peace:

We have never had cable TV in our home and really don't want it anyways. We do have cable internet, though. I have an Amazon Prime subscription and between that and my local library, I am able to keep up on all the movies I want to see and we don't watch much of anything on TV except for news programming and a couple dramas anyways, so over-the-air is just fine for us.

Thanks for the thoughts - I was not familiar with FireStick but might look into that...or YouTube....Xfinity just got rid of a bunch of channels, but I find I can stream most of it online anyway, so I'll look into something along those lines.
