WASHINGTON, D.C. (FOX19) - More than 26,000 glass cooktops are being recalled because they can turn on by themselves.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says Whirlpool, KitchenAid and JennAir brand glass cooktops with touch controls are included in the recall.

The cooktop surface elements can turn on by themselves, posing burn and fire hazards.

To determine if your cooktop is part of the recall, locate the model and serial number. The numbers can be found on the underside of the cooktop.

If you can’t find the tag, your registration card has the model and serial number listed.

Once you have that information, click on this link to find out if your cooktop is affected

You can call Whirlpool toll free at 888-900-7897 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday, if you have questions.

https://www.fsis.usda.gov/wps/portal/fsis/topics/recalls-and-public-health-alerts/recall-case-archive/archive/2019/recall-089-2019-release

September 3, 2019 at 6:27 AM EDT - Updated September 3 at 11:26 AM
(Gray News) - Approximately 24,428 pounds of raw beef products are being recalled, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced.

The government agency deemed the recall raw beef products by American Beef Packers, Inc., of “unfit for human consumption” after a sample was taken from a carcass that had been set aside by the USDA for testing. The beef was further processed and distributed among the meat products before the test results came back.

The products, which included boneless beef, ribeye, sirloins and tenderlions, were produced and packaged by the Chino, Calif., based company on Aug. 21 and shipped to federal establishments in California and Oregon. It is unclear where they went after that.

The beef bears the establishment number EST. 34741 inside the USDA mark of inspection. A full list of products under the recall can be found on the recall news release.

There have been no sicknesses associated with the product, but the USDA still urges the public to throw away the products or return them to the place of purchase.

Contact your healthcare provider if you feel you’ve had an adverse reaction from consumption of these products.

Two more pet food manufacturers are joining the list of those recalling pig-ear dog treats tied to an outbreak of salmonella that has now stricken 143 people in 35 states. The illnesses include 33 hospitalizations and 26 cases of children under five, federal health officials said on Thursday.

Dog owners should not buy or feed any pig ears to their pets, including treats already in homes, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reiterated in an update.

Where are you seeing all of these?  I don't even see them on the news.  Not that seeing it on the news means it is real.

I sign up for the email alerts on the emergency website.  See the link I posted below

Thanks.  I will look at it.  Although I think it may depress me.

This is ridiculous.  Recalls should not be an every day thing.  But look at the stupid in this world.  It really doesn't surprise me.

I wonder if there is something you can subscribe to that would auto send an email when there is a product recall in your area.  I dont always hear about them.

I used to be signed up with the FDA. They automatically send recall notices for everything. You need to sign up to receive any emails.  I just received one for ground beef through another site but I can't find it to see where' it's sold and a friend sent me one for Chef's Cupboard Soups sold at Aldi's because they weren't inspected.

The items were imported on July 17, 2019. The following products are subject to recall:
19 ounce cans containing Chef's Cupboard Classic Homestyle Chicken and Wild Rice.
19 ounce cans of Chef's Cupboard Italian Wedding Soup.
18.8 ounce cans of Chef's Cupboard Chunky Beef and County Vegetable
18.8 ounce cans of Chunky Sirloin Burger and Country Vegetable.

The products subject to recall do not bear the USDA mark of inspection, but bear Canada's establishment number “142” within the Canadian mark of inspection.

There's also one for pet recalls (mostly dog food).  But they just listed Berkey's Pig Ear Treats sold at BJ's Wholesale Clubs.

I saw this little machine, like a George Foreman type thing for cake pops, that just turned on itself, or warmed up, without being plugged in while on display at the store.

Keurig Dr Pepper Announces Voluntary Withdrawal of Unflavored Penafiel Mineral Spring Water that Does Not Meet FDA Bottled Water Quality Standards

Product Type: Food & Beverages, Bottled Water
Reason for Announcement: Presence of Arsenic
Company Name: Keurig Dr. Pepper
Brand Name: Penafiel
Product Description: Unflavored Mineral Spring Water
Company Announcement
BURLINGTON, MA and PLANO, TX - Keurig Dr Pepper announced it will voluntarily withdraw Penafiel unflavored mineral spring water products, imported from Mexico, due to the presence of violative levels of arsenic.

Arsenic when present in the diet at very high levels, well above those detected in recent samples of Penafiel, is associated with numerous chronic diseases. Water quality tests of Penafiel samples conducted by an independent laboratory on behalf of Keurig Dr Pepper detected arsenic at levels that exceeded the FD!'s bottled water standards for mineral water of 10 ppb.

All unflavored Penafiel mineral spring water products including 600mL and 1.5L of all date codes are included in this voluntary withdrawal. The product is packaged in PET bottle formats. Consumers who have this product in their possession can return it to their retailer for a full refund.

Penafiel is a small brand in the U.S. and quantities in the marketplace are very limited, given that Keurig Dr Pepper has already begun to withdraw the products from the market. The Company has notified retailers that it will work with them to remove the product from the market.

There is no way it can warm up all by itself if it is not even plugged in.

The recall marks an expansion of one announced by the company in June. It also comes nearly three months after federal health officials announced the apparent end to an E. coli outbreak linked to multiple brands that sickened 21 people in nine states.

I have this product in my freezer, and want to warn anyone who buys it now there's a Voluntary Recall | King Arthur Flour   (Orginal recall is below)

October 3, 2019
King Arthur Flour announced a voluntary national recall of specific lots of its Unbleached All-Purpose Flour (5 lb. & 25 lb.), in cooperation with ADM Milling Company.

We are taking this voluntary precautionary step because of the potential presence of E. coli 026 which was discovered through sampling. To date, we have not received any confirmed reports of illnesses related to this product, which was produced prior to February 2019.

Bakers have trusted King Arthur Flour products in their kitchens for over 225 years and because of that trust we have issued this voluntary recall.

This flour was milled at an ADM Milling facility in Buffalo, NY, and was distributed through retailers and distributors nationwide, and sold through our website, catalogue, and store in Norwich, VT.

I have never purchased a product recall item, thank God.  Companies should check and triple check any items that are being sold for consumer absorption.

Chicken recall hits Kroger, Giant, Aldi, Food Lion, and more after products test positive for listeria contamination
The chains impacted by the recall include Giant Supermarket, Kroger, Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Bi-Lo, Piggly Wiggly, Kings Supermarket, Jersey Mike's, and others, according to the USDA.

Nutrisystem's Three Cheese Chicken product is among many recalled over concerns of potential listeria contamination of ready-to-eat chicken produced by Tip Top Poultry of Rockmart, Ga. (Photo: USDA)

Georgia food producer Tip Top Poultry is recalling an undetermined amount of ready-to-eat chicken products including sandwiches, salads, wraps and other dishes for possible contamination with listeria.

The frozen, diced and shredded chicken products were made between Jan. 21, 2019, and Sept. 24, 2019, at the company's Rockmart, Georgia, cooking facility, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service.

An undetermined amount of the products were sold across the U.S. and in Canada at retailers including Aldi, Trader Joe's, Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Kroger, Giant, Dillons, IGA, Food 4 Less, Piggly Wiggly and Redners Warehouse Market.

This is an expansion of Tip Top Poultry's recall from Sept. 28, issued after several products sold in Canada tested positive for listeria monocytogenes. All of the products involved were made on a single production line at the plant, which had been given a "thorough intensified cleaning plan," the company said, after an earlier sample had been found to have listeria in it.
