3 Squares a Day?
« on: March 05, 2019, 08:15:32 am »
I have found that if I eat 3 full meals a day I am overfull and also putting on weight.  I am down to eating one full meal and a somewhat smaller second meal.  Of course, I know it depends on how active you are and I have been pretty sedentary for about 8 or 9 months now.  That needs to change!! How many times do you eat each day and are you more sedentary or pretty active?

I usually have 3 meals a day.  Dinner/Supper is my largest meal.  Breakfast is peanut butter toast and lunch is some sort of sandwich and pringles.  I also have a snack or two throughout the day.

Our big meal is the middle of the day.  I cook 3 times a day we are active.

I am just like you, eating three full meals and not doing enough exercise, so I'm gaining weight. As soon as the weather gets nice, though, I intend to go back up to my full complement of exercise (I try to jog 15 miles a week), and to ditch one of the three meals I am currently eating, most likely lunch.

I have 3 meals a day, but my breakfast is literally just a yogurt and my lunch is a frozen meal. They're around $2 at my grocery store. I'd rather pay that than $8 at the deli in my building. For dinner, I treat myself to something a little better, though I still don't think I eat *that* much. The scale would disagree though. LOL

It is not how many times a day you eat.  It is how much.  You can't eat 3 meals a day and eat like a sumo wrestler and not gain weight.  It is what you eat and how much and also how active you are.

This is an interesting topic to me.  We are all different.  You would have to take many factors into consideration because I do not believe "three meals a day" is a one-size fits all.  Personally, I know my body responds best when eating consistently at regular times, not necessarily breakfast, lunch and dinner each and every day.  The weight gain would spin out of control on that plan.  The short answer is:  eat when I'm hungry.

     Breakfast is very important...why?
A good breakfast with enough calories will keep you going early in the morning...
without making you sleepy. Two meal replacements per day is also a good idea because
you will not over do it eating unnecessary meals. Adult formulas (Ensure, SlimFast, Boost) or
even a milkshake will make you feel full, not hungry.

I do not know your age...but here is the real problem: As we age it is more difficult to lose weight.
So this is what you can do right now: Check the ingredients in your food- Low salt/sugar, low fat and carbs,
low calories is the best diet you can do. Find a nutritionist to design a program with your needs in mind.
Drink plenty of water and sleep well. Exercise, even at home...you do not need a gym. Swim, if you can.
And when the snow and bad weather are gone, start walking. You will feel better...much, much better than now.

I eat a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast.  I have a sandwich for lunch.  I usually have a big dinner.  I don't have dessert every day.

I have five to six smaller meals throughout the day.I have found that my metabolism speeds up a bit and my energy levels are higher as a result.  I usually have a cup of coffee, half grapefruit and two hard boiled eggs for my first meal at five in the morning; protein bar or drink an half an apple at seven thirty; cottage cheese and a tomato at ten thirty; turkey sandwich at one; hummus and veggie sticks three thirty; fish, rice and veggies at around six thirty. I drink about seventy six ounces of water per day as well. I try to prepare everything on Sunday mornings: Boil eighteen eggs, steam a bunch of vegetables, slice up a bunch of vegetables, broil four chicken *bleep*, Grill e few lean hamburger patties, prepare one casserole, and grind enough coffee beans to cover me for the week.

I eat two meals a day ~ breakfast and dinner.  I try not to snack in between.  If so, it is fruits or veggies.  I haven't been as active since the weather has been cold but looking forward to getting outside and exercising as soon as it warms up.
Have a wonderful day!
