CONTACTS VS. EYE GLASSES?
« on: October 10, 2009, 10:55:26 am »
DOES ANYBODY WEAR CONTACTS OR EYEGLASSES OR MAYBE BOTH LIKE MYSELF. DUE TO HAVING CONTACTS DISPOSABLE, WE HAVE TO BUY THEM EVERY OTHER MONTH OR SO BUT WITH EYE GLASSES, WE JUST HAVE TO KEEP THEM IN GOOD CONDITION UNTIL OUR WARRANTY IS UP.

HAVE ANYBODY HAVE THEIR EYE BURN FROM THE DISINFECTED SOLUTIONS FROM USING THE CONTACTS?

I am supposed to wear glasses, but I don't like them, and as far as contacts, I could never place anything in my eyes.

Contacts are just so much better. More convenient and look alot better on me. I've had the burning thing happen numerous times, but I switched solutions and it's less frequent now. Either way, I suck it up, it's way better than eyeglasses.

I only use eyeglasses.  I do not like to use contact lens :dontknow:  But, my husband does.  He uses both, eyeglasses and contact lenses and he do not have to pay for the contact lens, he just have to call his eye doctor and they will give him free contact lenses.  How was that? :icon_rr:

I have worn glasses since elementary school and I am now 46.  Also the lenses were very thick. Like the bottom of a coke bottle.  Oh, we don't even have coke bottles any more... anyway of course I was teased or picked on so when I was 13 I got contacts and have worn them ever since.  I do give my eyes a break and sometimes wear my glasses.
Before the extended wear came along I would leave my contacts in for too long and hurt/burn my eyes. It would be horrible pain.  It doesn't happen so much now unless maybe there is a small tear on the contact.  If you keep the contacts clean and rinse them regularly that will help with the burning and they will always last longer.
About glasses, if you do a search, there is a place online where you can get glasses for as low as 20 bucks!
You just have to have a perscription and if you don't have yours, your doctor should be happy to supply you with yours if you call and ask.

I've worn glasses since I was a kid. I'm used to having to wear them and I'm not comfortable to have lenses in my eyes.

I'm a diehard eyeglass wearer myself.  I got glasses in the 6th grade (34yo now) and then by 8th grade, I got contacts bc it was easier cheering.  Disposables weren't readily available & were way *WAY* too expensive at that time, but I wore mine for about 2 years I guess.  I finally gave up on them bc I discovered that being a nightowl contacts weren't really conducive to my schedule.  I didn't like lugging both glasses, contacts and all the junk that went with the contacts at that time around all the time either.  I've stuck to glasses because I can take them off when I want, they don't rip so easily as flimsy film, I don't need special solution to clean them, I don't fish around my eyeball when it gets smushed to another part of my eyeball, I don't worry about them falling out and never finding one again, my eyes aren't nearly as irritated and they're clearer than any contacts I've used or tried - ever.  So, my vote - glasses.

Ask my sister, she'll tell just the opposite.  However, don't ask my co-worker, bc she just last week took out her disposable contacts that are supposed to be replaced every couple of weeks and wore her glasses for a couple of days.  The contacts had not been out of her eyes - AT ALL - in 6 months!  That's just not smart. :)

I have glasses and contacts. I just got those 30 night and day contacts a few months ago that I really like. It's nice waking up and being able to see clearly.

I wore glasses for over ten years and just started wearing contacts. I love the contacts! I can see so much better with the contacts. When I wore glasses and worked outside I would have to stop and wipe the sweat off my glasses (it's hot, hot, hot in Al. in the summer) all the time. I also leave my contacts in for about a week at the time. (I hope Doc. McAuthur don't see this) I have no problems at all with the burning or dry eyes.
