Burn Phone Numbers
« on: May 29, 2019, 10:11:57 am »
I know there are a number of apps or websites you can use that is a fake phone number you access on line and you can use it to get texts so if you do not want to give our your real phone number.

Is any one familiar with any of these?  I had one years ago but do not remember what it even was.  Most of the ones today still want to be connected to your real phone.

If you use one, and it is FREE, which one do you use?

I have never heard of that.   For a long time I had a cheap phone  and only did ten dollars at a time on it and it worked well.

I have used a free Google Voice number for many years and it has always worked well for me. The only catch I know of is you can't leave it dormant for too long, so use it or lose it.

That would be a good idea for junk texts.  Like a junk email account.

I have a couple of Google Voice phone numbers... but just like Old Buddy said, if you don't use them or access them, they will get eventually get deleted.  They are easy to acquire, you do have to verify your actual phone number when you are creating them.

I love that google voice sends the text of a voice message to my email so I can just read it.

Well I saw that and started signing up for it.  But then it said I have to put my real phone number in so it is still connected to my real number.  I had one a long time ago and it went straight to a voice mail (not sure you could get texts to it) and you went online to check your messages.

You do not understand what I am talking about. It has nothing to do with your caller ID.  I do not have that "scam likely" think on my phone.  I just do not answer if I do not know the phone number.
