Graduation Cake
« on: May 29, 2019, 10:31:19 am »
I have 2 kids.  My youngest is graduating on Friday.  Geez, has it been nuts.  She absolutely insisted on nothing being in school colors. (red and black)  We went to order her cake and the bakery lady had to write a book on the changes she wanted.  Anybody else went through this?

I was lucky my son wanted me to make his cake.  Purple and gold. Boy did I have to  experiment to get the  color gold just  right. Purple was no problem.  He  didn't  care  what flavor as he like  any  cake I made.  I had to  make it  and then transport it  127 miles . Little  worried  about it as it was a triple layer of different flavors.  those darn  kids ate every bite of it.  Don't know where 15  kids  put it. Along with hamburgers and all the fixings that were provided for them. Sure glad the other parents were providing all the rest. Every one of them were farm kids and we had it at the fire station out side of town. The even set off  a lot of fire works and danced  till dawn and we never had to worry about any of them drinking. thank  God

Good idea good luck with that make sure you get a good flavor and design look it would be a shame if you only had one and not the other and especially one if you had neither but I think you know what you're doing so it's going to be good  :P.

Fortunately, I did not have to go through all of that. My kids were happy to go along with whatever I planned.

No, thank goodness. I understand being very specific in what you want, but 'Holy moly'. Sounds reminiscent of those god-awful bridezillas we hear about.

No - I haven't experienced that but maybe it was a new employee and they wanted to make sure everything you wanted was accurately recorded so ou would be happy with the results.

No food request and no big fuss. They took it all in strides.

I don't have kids, but when I graduated - like 2016 - my great-aunt made my cake. She's in the catering business. I gave her free reign for $50. It was in my school colors and it said "congratulations, (my name)". Nothing fancy.
