Rakuten
« on: October 05, 2019, 12:16:08 pm »
For those of you who have used Ebates in the past - That company changed to Rakuten.  They still do the same thing; meaning that, you can receive "rebates" when you click through the website to shop online.

Now they're doing something more....

They've announced that you can received 5% cash back at thousands of restaurants.  Just thought you'd like to know.  I still have a lot to learn about this.

I think you do the "restaurant thing" via the Rakuten App.  It's currently available for people who use iOS but will be coming soon to Android.

Do you use Rakuten?

No, I don't use them and I'm not too sure what they are either.  I don't do too much on line shopping and I don't go to restaurants very often.

I have been using ebates for a few years now . they sent me an email telling me they were gonna change their name. the concept still works the same and I still get my rebates.

I have used ebates in the past, but I'm not impressed. Several times I never "automatically" got my rebate and had to request it each time. And when I signed up for Verizon, I was supposed to get a rebate for the phone I purchased. Never got it, and ebates said it was Verizon who denied the rebate and gave no reason for it. Apparently I only qualify for small $1 or $2 rebates.

I've seen commercials on it... my first thought was why would they change such an easy name like 'ebates' to one as complex as 'Rakuten' .   Doesn't seem to make sense.

I signed up for ebates so my Aunt could get $25 for referrals... but I have never personally used it.

I've heard of Ebates but I've never used them, nor did I know they were changing the name or concept. Sounds interesting, though. I may have to check it out.

My daughter and I both use it as we used Ebates in the past.  We use it a lot when shop online at Kohl's and other online stores.  Not big bucks but have applied what we earned toward her student loans.  Every penny helps.

I used Ebates probably once in my life. It was OK, but I do not think I will use their services again. I was not aware that they recently changed their name. Interesting...

Yes, I do!  Every opportunity that I can!  I've received over $1,000 back from them since I joined a few years ago.
Have a wonderful day!

I too have eBates for several years.  I have received cash back rewards many times.  Every little bit helps.

I've been a member for years but had forgotten about it. I used to spend a lot of money For Christmas. birthdays. and just for myself (housewares, clothing) when I was working I could kick myself for forgetting. They didn't have the reminder and never sent emails about the cash back reports every month back then. It figures because now I can't afford to spend like I did, so I don't make much but it's still better than nothing.

Did use debates for Christmas presents. Hate those fricking commercials where someone says she made 2000.00 girl you'd have to spend 20000 or more.

I didn’t know that about the restaurant part. I do use Rakuten - and I love it!
